We need your input about VODs & Mp3s on Patreon!

Hey all! We wanted to get a quick impression from those of you who watch and listen to our shows here on Patreon.

For awhile, whenever we would finish a livestream of one of our show's episodes, YouTube and Twitch would get the entire VOD, and we'd quickly cut out the BRB segments and pre-intro segments for Patreon, believing that to be superior so it's easier to watch and listen to.

We've had sever folks asking if they could get the pre-show talks. Sometimes these talks have nothing going on, or sometimes we're just joking around while talking to chat. It's a bit of a mixup.

We wanted to ask for you Patreons, if you would prefer if we did not edit the livestreams, and just get them hosted on Patreon as a video and as uncut audio. Or would you prefer it if we kept cutting off the fat of those streams?

If there is a HUGE different in the poll, we will act on it. If it's pretty even, we might keep it the way we've been for now.

As for Kingmaker, nothing changes there and won't be affected by this, as Patreon is the end point of that produced content.

What's considered superior is pretty subjective. Those of us who like you enough to support you on Patreon probably want the full thing, tbh (at least that's how I feel).

Adicitus

sometimes the funniest bits are during the preshow and the break, plus it feels nice to look back on all the talks you guys do

TankBanger

I am fine with all being uploaded. My only suggestion is to do the Youtube time markers for them so people who don't want to watch/listen can easily skip. Should still greatly reduce workload on the editor.

Tali the Baroness

I mean more content of the narrative dec crew is always a good thing imo

WhiteClade

Unedited brain rot to get a head start on lowering our Sanity Stat with the amazing casts shenanigans before the in-character shenanigans begin.

Lazy_Tower

I like it how it is, it is a decent length without anything important going missing. However, I can see how it could be interesting to see what happens between the cuts.

Staadnauthursil

I would like the option to listen to the uncut one but not at the expense of the edited one. If they are mutually exclusive then edited outs my preferred show.

Having caught the occasional Wednesday night W&G game live (sucks that I have a second job that goes from 6-8 PM CST on Wednesdays, plus two kids to put to bed; well, the kids are great), and having seen the VOD the next day, I definitely prefer the original version with the more natural banter. Also, as much as I do deeply appreciate the craft that goes into the edited videos, I also kinda like seeing how the sausage is made and the work that goes into it. Its actually one of the cooler things to see across content creators (from NarDec, BPL, to Steve Lehto and Technology Connections). There is a love of the craft of making this stuff (no matter what the "stuff" may be), and its always cool to see the effort that goes into it. So please keep it up with the fantastic editing, but do know I'm certainly in favor of getting the raw footage, faster. I guess the question on the YT side is there a concern about engagement with regards to directing Patreon folks to a presumably unlisted "raw" video, while eventually uploading a cleaner edited video for mass viewing?

Kommissar

All that chucklefuckery is just part of the fun!

GEIST-of-Patreon

Basically we'd do no editing, just throw up whatever was streamed on Patreon.

ZoranTheBear

If people don't like yapping they can always fast-forward, which is the benefit of not listening to it live. And of course, you're the ones deciding what to cut so feel free to cut out anything you feel isn't worth keeping, even if people do want the yapping.

Neospector

The point is to pick one of the other, so our editor can do less work and we can put the content on Patreon faster, or keep the same effort. We'd like to avoid adding even more of a workload and flooding the Patreon with multiple versions.

ZoranTheBear

I voted for the full version, but it is only a slight difference. Also, I don't know how much longer this would make the vids.

Demos Mirak

I have no problem either way; I usually try to see it live and I can see why people want to see the stuff that gets cut away.

CrimsonBullet58

Listen, without being there early for W&G that one time, I would Never have been able to see the glorious wrestling match between sly marbo, baron harkonennen and kevin. (And that other dude who'se name escapes me) THE WORLD DESERVES TO KNOW!

The Winter Weasel

I see alot of love for uncut but I'll throw in that as a podcaster I like pressing play and knowing you guys have done the skipping for me. Much love, the content is great.

Lore Monkey

Worst case we can always skip segments manually :)

OrangeShirt

We will always have an option to skip parts we don't want to listen to. That said, you have a community of goblins who like you, so give us your voices.

Trent Malinowski

I voted for uncut, but honestly I like both options by comparatively the same amount.

Fox Tengu

hearing the side conversations at the break and before/after the game are nice to listen to

HUNTER S117

I’m all for more of you guys, people can always skip ahead

Draconic Ballad

You could do two different versions to fulfill both desires. One that has everything and one that is edited.

Renic

I want it all, but I'm just a greedy bastard

Maxin the Dragon

I think having the whole unedited thing warts and all is the ideal, those who like it can listen to it, those who do not can just fast forward into the show. If you cut the pre-show roll, it takes away the option.

G.S.

I'd prefer the way things are now. There were other shows I've watched VODs of in the past, i.e. Critical Role, but I think 9 times out of 10 I'd skip through the pre-show talk to get to what I came for. So I actually quite liked that you guys cut out the breaks and what have you so I can get straight into the show.

Risax the Imp

I'm fully down with the raw, uncircumcised Narrative Declaration experience

Diego

I just like the Kingmaker cold openings. Just the team mid horrible conversation and suddenly, "welcome to kingmaker everybody!"

Lord Coordinator

You are all adorable and I love you. More please.
