Added 2025-09-19 14:58:11 +0000 UTCso glad to share with you my conversation with Daniel José Gaztambide, 'visiting assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at the New School for Social Research and practicing psychologist.' he has written two fascinating books, including A People’s History of Psychoanalysis: From Freud to Liberation Psychology. we discussed how important the psychic is to the political and vice versa, the important and progressive findings of freud's work, the necessity of acknowledging and developing from the shortcomings of important white thinkers, the work Frantz Fanon did to interpret Freud, and how the pleasure principle is a key insight into understanding how we are structurally oppressed under capitalism (or, if you prefer, white supremacist capitalist patriarchy).
