Welcome to Backlog Buster.

Hey everyone, Wes here.

Been a little while, but things are starting to fall into place in my life. I’ve moved, I’ve been more active, and it’s all definitely been a positive change for me. Turns out it’s hard to quit something you’ve been doing for 6+ years cold turkey, so I’ve started making videos again.

This patreon used to be for video creation on my old channel Recommended Playing, it is now being rebranded into my new endeavor: Backlog Buster.

I’m turning the patreon back on to help with ongoing costs of primarily the Adobe Suite.

Backlog Buster will primarily be about 3 types of videos. “Classic” or Regular episodes where I work through a game, and make a video about the experience. Challenger episodes will focus on beating a game with specific challenge criteria. Finally, the rarest type of video will be going for 100% completion, and/or Platinum Trophies for games I really like.

I’ve found making videos for this new channel refreshing, and I’m enjoying the process again.

I have additional legacy video footage from the various challenges I did on Recommended Playing. The next videos for the foreseeable future will be (In no particular order):

Once I’ve worked through this backlog of footage, I will be starting up both new games for regular backlog buster episodes, as well as challenges.

I will likely do a PS3 Demon’s Souls Platinum Hits episode as one of my first forms of this new content. After that, it’s debatable. I am open to taking suggestions from Patreon supporters with how to move forward.

I’m sure I’m like a lot of you, and I have an eclectic tastes in games. Backlog Buster will have a much broader range of games played. 

Recommended Playing is retired, and will remain so. Making guides is very unfulling creatively, and is inherently stressful. It takes a lot of effort to make a high quality guide that the vast majority of people can follow.

Unfortunately, no matter how much effort you put in, there is a lot of vitriol associated with guides. People have a tendency to get angry when they fail to follow it, or it doesn’t work out for them. 

I’m not really interested in being in that sphere anymore.

Working on a single video with a 5+ hour runtime guide is just not satisfying anymore. Long projects really drain your soul. I’m enjoying the smaller scope of each individual video. A 30-40 minute runtime is a lot easier to script, edit, and finalize.
