Added 2024-02-13 16:23:53 +0000 UTCwhen i was taking these photos, a lot of body insecurity was expressed. she was constantly criticizing herself, and even asked if i could edit out her insecurities. i said no, i never do that. the body is perfectly imperfect. she kept criticizing herself, despite my reassurances. her partner was mostly silent, compassionately witnessing her and holding space for her to move through the process. i encouraged her, and told her that i see her as a goddess. i told her how many people are very insecure going into photo sessions, but how when they see the photos something shifts and they see themselves as very beautiful. she didn’t really believe me—i could tell she was stuck in the narrative. at one point i told her: “imagine, just for this moment, that you are the most beautiful person in the world!” she smiled shyly and started crying. today, i sent her these images. “woah…” she said, “i’m speechless. i’m never speechless. these are incredible. ❤️” today, i’m grateful to be reminded of one of the most amazing reasons that i do the work that i do. to help people remember the miracle of the body in all its forms and expressions. i’m grateful to the divine, which flows through me; it is not me behind the camera during these moments—it is all You. this is articulated well by Andre Gide: art is a collaboration between God and the artist, and the less the artist does, the better. thank you. i love you.
