& on the transformation
from Shadow to Wolf
how it is both
deafeningly quiet, &
loud, like breaking bones

: restrictions and limitations are strangely freeing! i’ve returned to this old camera which i haven’t used in a while, and perhaps one would think that i’d long for the higher tech / newer camera that i was using for a while, but no. that one definitely has its strengths, but i love the character of this one. it’s like coming home to an old friend. i’m also missing a remote to trigger the self-timer, but that is freeing as well. more constraints. more bondage. how strange—more liberation in creation. yes, i’ve noticed leaning into constriction leads to expansion.
i wonder if you can relate? do you have something that is seemingly constricting but that has actually been sneakily expansive?
and furthermore about ‘downgrading’ cameras or equipment/tools — someone said recently that it’s not about logical technique, rather about presence. i so agree with this. how present can i be? then, in the deep of the presence, does it really matter? surely still a little, but it’s why i thought art school was so stupid, haha. but im sure it has its strengths too for those who really enjoy the nuances of the technical side of photography. anyway, how do these photos make you feel? which speaks to you, or draws you in? i will share a couple on instagram, but have been really enjoying sharing more and more on this platform. thank you for being here.
