Re: Instructions to join Private Group Chat hosted on WhatsApp
Added 2023-08-29 23:41:07 +0000 UTCHi Folks,
I’ve received quite a few messages from the friends inside our Community on how to join the Private Group Chat on WhatsApp so wanted to send this note here to have everyone on the same page.
I put the instructions in a previous post here, but I will simplify them just so that we’re all on the same page. The Private Group Chat has been up and running since August 23rd, where I’ve shared Pre-Market Updates Monday-Thursday to highlight my ongoing plans for tactical positioning.
From start to finish, the process of joining the Private Group Chat will take 2 minutes, at most.
- Please fill out this Google Form (takes 30 seconds-1 minute). Please put in your Substack/Patreon email address that you used for registration along with phone number.
- Once the Form has been filled out, wait for the page to refresh. There will be a WhatsApp invite link there for you to click.
- Click on the link, and you will automatically be entered into the Chat. Make sure you have WhatsApp downloaded (takes 1 minute).
Now I need to just remind folks the quirks of WhatsApp:
- When you first join, your Chat Channel will be blank. Previous message history is not shown on WhatsApp community channels. My next message will be the first message that you see. That’s just how WhatsApp functions.
And that’s it! You’re in!
As long as you’re a Member with an active subscription, you’ll be invited in the Private Group Chat.
Just remember in principle, the way I operate is:
- I look for an edge in the market and participate only when I see setups that have positive expectancy.
- If I don’t see an edge, or I perceive the market environment to be too risky for the Community, I must sit on my hands until better levels arrive.
To read the full guide on my approach, you can refer to this document here.
Folks who follow my work closely can see that my specialty and my edge lies in Selling Puts on companies that I understand and have researched thoroughly. I also of course participate in buying Direct Shares, but I would say that I tend to do so only when I see a truly compelling setup. Because I also Sell Puts using leverage (when the context is right), my net exposure to the market is often similar to Direct Shares yet I have the added benefit of Theta Decay on my side. I would suggest that beginners learning my approach should not/must not use leverage at the beginning.
I have to prioritize producing ideas that have a high-probability of profit and survival as I do not wish to tie up your capital in ideas that take too long to play out (I have closely considered your standpoint as well). My guidance to you is the same level of care that I treat my capital. Your capital is precious, and I must guide only when I see positive expectancy and I sense an imminent move that is favorable to our position.
Over time, you will see that our Strategy will perform best during the following environments:
- Up Markets
- Flat Markets
- Slightly down markets
My Core Strategy of Selling Puts will be greatly impacted by severe downturns that have fearful price action and relentless selling. Employing a strategy with Selling Options means it is imperative to cut losses/take smaller gains if there is any whiff at all that a significant downturn is about to take place.
So long as one is disciplined and doesn’t over-leverage his/her book, the good news is that probability & statistics do in fact favor our approach over the long run. One core risk management metric that I would like to share if you Sell Puts (or options in general) is this: NEVER ever let the metric called “Current Excess Liquidity” on Interactive Brokers fall below 50% of your portfolio value. If it does, it means you’re using too much leverage. I am not familiar with the terminology that is used on other brokerages. More education on Options will be provided in the Bootcamp that I have planned for members in early October.
Thank you for being a part of my Community, and I look forward to continuing to serve you and the folks at large. Please spread the word about our dedication to helping traders/investors to your network. Appreciate all of you.
Best,
-Larry
P.S. - I will be back on Youtube later this Fall. I’ve just been enjoying Summer and spending a lot of time to take our Community infrastructure to the next level.
