2023-09-04 08:10:41 +0000 UTCNot gonna lie, I really want Ylva to go with Thorfinn because she's badass and I want to see more of her (haven't read the manga so idk if she comes back). Of course she could solo any conflict they come across so that might make it too easy for them.

2023-09-04 07:34:50 +0000 UTCA rewatch is very much worth it - even if you get to see the first episode again with these last two episodes still fresh in your mind. The fact the episode is called "Somewhere not here", as well as the many replicated scenes of Thors wandering the village, seeing the children play, then working the forge. So many great little touches evoked in this one. My favourite shot of this episode was Thorfinn finally standing side by side with his father in those visions. As you noted, all previous shots had Thors in the distance, looking far ahead at something we couldn't see or yet reach. Now he's made it, and ready to go even further beyond. This season elevated the show to one of my favourites of all time, a top 5 for sure. I just hope it continues to get such wonderful treatment with future adaptations.

Being as open as you are with your audience can't be easy, and I really admire your dedication to being real and speaking your mind. I've been going through some emotional challenges recently, and hearing you talk about your cells regenerating and becoming a new person gave me some sort of clarity. My physical body will always be temporary. Death and rebirth is constantly happening, mostly unnoticed. But our personalities, our dreams, and our lineage truly is infinite. Although Thors is gone, his person, character, and everything he stood for, is more alive than ever. I want to be more like Thors and Thorfinn, and more like you too :)

2023-09-01 17:27:43 +0000 UTCAlso I visited Iceland recently and want to sort of drop this info. Iceland has twice the amount of sheep as people and Iceland is known for their lamb. Since there are no natural predators, the farmers put tags on their sheep and release them into the wilderness for a year. During a specific time of the year (which they celebrate to a similar degree as Christmas) they round up the sheep around the island and bring them towards an enclosure that looks like a large circle with a bigger circle around it. In the outer circle, it is separated into sections and they put all the sheep in the inner circle and put them into different sections based on which farmer they belong to. They then grab some young lambs in the flock and, in a very humane manner, kill them. They do this by holding the lambs and stroking them while a veterinarian uses a device that is like a pistol with a spring loaded nail, which is delivered to the back of their head. The lambs live their lives without knowing fear and it reflects in the taste.

2023-09-01 17:02:41 +0000 UTCI mean, to your statement at around 2:00, your cells do replace themselves about every 10-15 years. So Thorfinn really isn't the same Thorfinn as he was 15 years before he left. Althogh, I guess that is the point you were trying to make XD

The prodigal son is finally home. Good for you. Ylva KO’ed Thorfinn who did not fall down even with Canute’s mens 100 hits. A gag manga guy with a hole in the wall in the shape of Thorfinn. It was very nice. In times of war and slavery, it’s hard to do something funny. I feel that Thorfinn has finished one era and entered a new one. A new season. Ylva also became a mother. A mother became a grandmother. I started drawing Vinland Saga when I was 29, and I’m now 47. Everyone gets old. If I’m going to get old anyway, I want to grow as much as the time I spent. Thorfinn and Einar have a common goal, a dream of ‘creating a peaceful country in Vinland’! I think it’s amazing to live with a dream in this era. Because normally people in the Viking age think that living itself is the purpose of living. “I live today, and my child lives tomorrow.” “For myself and my family, safety and food for the time being.” I think this was a big part of the interest of the people in the Viking age. “My dream is to go abroad, plunder, show my bravery, and become rich.” Big chance for men only. Vikings who wish for dreams other than these are the true monsters of Viking society. You’ve become a splendid monster, Thorfinn… There are a few monsters in this world. A person who has a bad relationship with society and common sense. A person whose very existence raises questions about society. Go ahead, maverick of Viking society. The Vikings may be proud of their strength ,but monsters are truly terrifying. They are the ones who have the potential to completely overturn society and the world. For better or worse. That kind of person is cool! Sometimes they make me think, and sometimes I’m scared…. There are people who have turned this story into an anime. For a while this story didn’t look like it was going to be popular… I feel sorry as the original author. (Side note back in 2014, 5 years before the anime, Kodansha temporarily suspended and warned of potentially cancelling the English translation of Vinland Saga, due to low readership numbers. Fortunately that did not happen. Now in 2023 Yukimura was invited to the SD Comic Con as a guest of honour. Please everyone! If you love a creators’ work, please support them officially how ever you can!) Thanks to the anime, I found that there are surprisingly many people around the world who find this story interesting. There are too many people to thank for mentioning all their names. Thank you to everyone who was involved in the animation production of Vinland Saga. More than anything! You! You who watched it!
