ty very much! Unrelated to Haikyu but the last episode + some movies of Violet Evergarden are not available. Is that on purpose?

David Sadeghizadeh

Sorry about that, I just did it

Alex G

Please release the 11th episode, Goodwin!

David Sadeghizadeh

Me neither

Ana

When the other Nekoma characters said "score" they don't mean they're gonna get the girl they're talking about the bet they made before.

Jason Serrano

Am i the only one who cant see the 11th episode?

swag

@Bighead good point! I totally forgot to mention that!

Athena

Yes!! Nekoma is a mirror of Karasuno so I absolutely love how their play styles are the exact opposite. While Karasuno has a strong offense, Nekoma has a strong defense.

Bighead

Fukunaga is a fun character. :) Goodwin already seems overwhelmed with the names, so I didn't want to write another, but Fukunaga's name is cool, too. His first name, "Shouhei," is more commonly written in the real world as either 昭平 (shining-peace) or 昇平 (rising-peace), etc., but the Nekoma spiker's name is *招*平. That first character is "invite," or the 'maneki' part of the word maneki-neko (the cat figurines you see at the entrance to businesses that are trying to welcome in customers with their paws going up and down).

Ryan

It's such an interesting choice to have a rival team be a mirror of our boys. It makes it that much more sucky if they end up playing each other and one of them has to lose! Sadly, my favorite member of Nekoma, Fukunaga, isn't really focused on/introduced, but we'll get to see him a bit more further into the series :)

Athena

Right. Different tournaments, one on each side of summer. Shiratorizawa did go to nationals at the Inter-High tournament, yes, but not for the "Spring" tournament.

Ryan

There’s two separate tournaments each year, the Inter-High tournament and the Spring Nationals. The first season was the preliminaries for the Inter-High, season 2-3 is the preliminaries for the Spring Nationals.

Jabez Katsak

Which one you talking about?

HEAVY SPOILERS FOR GOODWIN HEAVY SPOILERS FOR GOODWIN HEAVY SPOILERS FOR GOODWIN DO NOT READ YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED In the initial inter-highs, Shiratorizawa seemed to win the first time (if I’m correct), but Kurasuno got to play again that second time, and so did the other teams including Shiratorizawa. What was the point of Shiratorizawa winning that first one if they have to play again? Did they go to nationals there and lose (I’m still in the beginning of season 4)? I’m confused as to how that works.

My favorite thing here is how the Neighborhood Association members Takinoue and Shimada come out to support the team. A theme in this show will be how small acts of kindness from anyone can be very meaningful for others in the long run. Names: - Coach Nekomata = "another cat," but it's also the name of a cat demon in northern Japanese folklore - Inuoka (the blocker who marks Hinata) = "dog-hill." Not really sure why he's the lone dog in the team of cats, but maybe just chasing the ball while smiling? It does seem that everyone on Nekoma has a Karasuno pair, but in particular Tanaka and Yamamoto (the blond mohawk) are set up that way. Yamamoto's first name is Taketora (-tora = tiger), and Tanaka's first name is Ryuunosuke (Ryuu = dragon). Tigers and Dragons, in Asian mythology, are like "oil and water." Eternal rivals. As for "ranked" matches, it might be worth reiterating that there is no "regular season" per se. The only "official" matches are the tournaments, and they're all single-elimination (lose once and you're out): Inter-High (coming up soon), Nationals (where Hinata first saw the Little Giant), and the smaller Player Expo where Asahi broke the broom. So, it's either "practice match" or "tournament match." In Japanese HS sports, there's no middle ground of "play for points, but the losers still get to play again."

Ryan

you are going to see so many wholesome games in the future 🥰... also theres an arc i cant wait for you to watch because something you said in this reaction made me think of it hehe

Crystalrose

the direction really gets you focused in on the matches during those volleyball sequences, its funny to see how much harder you start looking at the screen when the intense play animation starts going, i do the same. this show has such a great art style.
