March Comes in Like a Lion 1x2 Reaction Extended (YT link below)

In March Comes in Like a Lion 1x2, Rei Kiriyama exposes me as a behind-the-curve adult living a 17-year-old bachelor life. But at least I'm ahead on having toilet paper and already having had my heart broken by a pro.

im only two episodes in but i can really feel this, every character in the show so far has so much detail already put into them, when it comes to how they interact with other characters, their enviornment, the character designs themselves, its incredible. the world itself is designed with so much detail and thought as well its astonishing. studio shaft are going off in the first two episodes, i hope it continues this quality going forward.

He will very soon know Okamoto's voice from Haikyuu, as well. :)

Well you can definitely draw many parallels in their storytelling. It just invoked similar feelings in me that I felt when watching 3-gatsu no lion. So I'd say it's worth a watch!!

I've only heard good things about shouwa genroku rakugo shinjuu, but I have yet to watch it. With how much love I have for 3-gatsu, if it's remotely similar, I'll be sure to watch it!

You described my feelings for the characters perfectly, even the ones I'm not particularly fond of, feel like very human characters you can empathise with. And there's something so incredibly nostalgic and warm about this show despite its exploration of some heavy topics. I'm not sure if you have seen Shouwa genroku rakugo shinjuu, but that and 3-gatsu no lion are my favourite drama shows of all time. Despite being such brilliant shows they aren't as popular as you'd think, which is a shame.

Didn't we all fall in love with Akari?

I know that you watch the MHA dub, but the Japanese VA of Bakugo is the same as Nakaidou, Rei's loud and competitive rival in the beginning of the episode. How appropriate.

“I can already tell who is the greater in this rivalry. It is Rei,” “Oh I get it. He’s lonely. This is not about shogi,” “The same sugary blood flows through both of our veins,” “His personality is manifested in the way he treats the pieces,” “Everybody has a story. Everyone in that kind of high position probably wants it badly. It would be way more of a disservice if he took a dive or let him win,” “Part of the sweetness of victory is connecting it directly to your actions,” “Good feelings, in order to be healthy, have to be linked to some kind of growth or effort,” “AT HOME?! Who is this girl?” (Goodwin not getting for *the longest time* that we already know Akari is SENDING ME) Rei: Women are amazing Goodwin: Tell me about it. They can also be devastating. Two halves of the same coin “This kid is me for real. You guys want to see a picture of my refrigerator right now? [picture of fridge]” (I laughed SO HARD) “Oohh and a little-a little touch. A little touch on his back. A little affection-just right. She can’t even turn it off, can she?” (Forget REI being in love with Akari, Goodwin’s falling for her 2 episodes in) “I’m getting similar feelings about Rei, wanting to tell him to run, as I do from Denji in Chainsaw Man,” (Goodwin, I BEG of you, remove your head from this gutter 😭) “It’s subtle like that, you don’t even realize you’re still grieving. Sometimes you don’t even know you’re in it ‘til you get out of it,” “A lot of his outward coldness or quietness is a maybe a reaction to his volatility,”

Petition to rename this reaction to 'Goodwin discovers and subsequently falls in love with Akari Kawamoto'

With the addition of a few characters in the supporting and in the minor cast this episode, I have to say that 3-gatsu stands out to me in many ways, but one of the most prominent is the almost hauntingly human writing of each individual. I can't think of a single character, however minor, that didn't feel incredibly fleshed out and REAL. It's almost as if I've met each character in some capacity in my own life. The anime and the manga, for that matter, each feel vividly alive due in large part to the true-to-life portrayal of people as, well, people, and the realistic interactions between the cast members.
