Exactly what occured with me Tispy but after I finished Season 2. Read the whole manga after than and have kept up with it weekly ever since. I am so sad its ending soon... :(

From the story about the princess on the moon when Kaguya and Shirogane were stargazing to his father's story behind his watch. I really love the imagery behind Miyuki reaching out to close the heaven and earth distance between him and Kaguya. Super Romantic!

Im just impatient as hell and couldn't even wait for season 3 to end before I dove into it, so no way was I waiting for season 4. However there are also some really amazing chapters that never got adapted, so I'm so glad that I decided to read it.

But, I would say this is one of the very very rare cases where the anime adaptation actually improves the story and comedy. So for me the anime is actually the best version of the story but obviously they are only 130ish chapters in at the end of S3 when the current manga is at chapter 270ish, so its well worth reading all that amazing character development.

2022-08-04 02:41:16 +0000 UTCThe static manga panel scenes felt like an homage to Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances). It’s a romantic comedy anime directed by Hideaki Anno three years after his work on Evangelion (so it's kind of fitting that you mentioned Evangelion). It has one of my favorite relationships in anime, but the quality of the show declines towards the end since Anno left the production due to creative differences with the manga creator.

I love the juxtaposition of the more theatrical scenes during the characters’ usual scheming (like Kaguya’s mind theater and Ishigami’s Shawshank Redemption reference), with the use of monochromatic manga panel recreations when everything else is stripped away all that is left is their purest feelings. Such an emotional episode that is elevated by the beauty of the visuals.

2022-08-04 02:29:23 +0000 UTCIn case you don’t know Goodwin, MHA has two new OVA’s on streaming now. They were released in Japan over the summer. Miraculously they are dubbed right out of the gate. They aren’t serious in anyway, but serve as good humorous fun. Since the upcoming season, and the season after for that matter, are going to have practically ZERO humor.
