Demon Slayer 1x16 Reaction Extended (YT link below)

In Demon Slayer 1x16 Letting Someone Else Go First, Zenjutsu spends the episode calling out to a girl who literally can't talk, leaving time for the awesome tag team of Kanjiro and Inoshisuke to leave us feeling all warm and cottony inside.

If I put links here like this will that work?

Demon Slayer 1x16 Reaction Extended (YT link below)

5th form is such a beautiful moment. It makes me emotional every time I see it.

For me this is one of the best aspects of Demon Slayer. Every single other show ever made ever has to ham fist the backstory in during the fight for multiple episodes, constantly ruining the tension and pulling you out of the battle itself. In Demon Slayer, all the Demons have to be killed, they have to be stopped from killing innocents and there is no way to fully redeem them, so instead of forcing a sad backstory down our throats before their death to make us feel bad for them, they instead show us the backstory afterwards so that we can reflect on their past trauma's and issues they faced as real people. Its incredibly unique compared to all other shounen's and I personally don't find it redundant at all. The show doesn't pretend to be some Avant Garde highly complex narrative that takes a High IQ to understand, it knows exactly what it is and executes it to perfection, so for me the writing is very refreshing and well done. A simple story when told well can be just as good if not better than a supposedly more complicated one. And for you saying its an "unpopular" opinion, no it isn't. Every single area of discussion on Demon Slayer has massive amounts of haters and critics who bring up the exact same points you just did, you cannot go anywhere where people are talking about Demon Slayer and not find massive amounts of criticism. There are an incredible amount of dislikers of this series, people love to hate popular things, and there isn't anything out right now in Anime that is more popular than Demon Slayer other than AoT.

"Quick, give us your tragic backstory" This is a really redundant writing mechanics that Demon Slayer overused a bit. I mean we get it demon were human at one point with feelings, etc. I know this show is really love by a lot a people, so it's an unpopular opinion, but I think that Demon Slayer has a real problem renewing himself in terms of writing. Anyway it's kinda fun to watch

Clément

"Oh, he just yeeted her" When he said this I laughed out loud lmfao

benj

"Looking for his fellow sleeping buddy," (awwww I just realized that too) "Just another day in the Demon Corps!!" "Rui seems like the kinda kid who just got too much attention as a child," (LMAO) "Oh, he just yeeted her," "Dad is going to be So. Pissed," "They're busy doing good work, playing Puppet Basketball," "You don't need a head when you got ABS like this," "I know, I often too feel a certain type of way about birds," "PURITY, That's real livin'. Real forest living! You've inspired the cotton balls, that's real love," "Oh, no. What is Daddy gonna think? You took way too long. No one can put up with this. We have no time, for some reason," "Feeling aligned with your daily reality is just a lot sweeter of a reward than any of those things," "Here's this philosophical awakening. Starting with a hip toss," "Quick, give us...your tragic...backstory," "You little punk! I hate this kid," "I have a feeling Father's death is not gonna be as tranquil, and Tanjiro is not gonna look at him with those eyes," "You don't need to conform to his desires to get names right. We all know who you're talking about," (I love so much Goodwin relating to Inosuke in getting names wrong) "I mean, even I can get Tanjiro right," (when he earlier called Zenitsu Zenito or something lol) "Tanjiro is him, but in some sense, more,"

Geneva The Weeba

Exactly! Inosuke has little understanding about human interactions since he was raised by wild boars, but he clearly craves human contact

Ruma Risto

So yeah the anime didn't really explain it, but the narration box in the manga said "With the 5th form, the slain barely feels a thing. A merciful sword stroke." So once again i admired Tanjiro. He will never hesitate to kill the demon, but still showing compassion to them after they die. Or like this one, he can smell her fear and suffering, so he gave her merciful death

Kei

Yeah the character analysis this reaction was so good. I appreciate Tanjiro and Inosuke's dynamic so much more now.

benj

Damn didn’t know you knew about Devil May Cry now that’s a game series baby

Kollie123

Maybe Tanjiro was the one who made the original art of plum-reading. All those demons were training for Akito later on.

Cool little detail in the OP, starting this episode, Shinobu is now included in the group Hashira shot that blacks out all the Hashira’s faces/colours ( https://i.imgur.com/GgJqVM0.png ). Originally, it was only Gigu revealed because we were introduced to him in episode one and he is the only Hashira up to this point we have actually seen in person. I cannot wait for you to meet my favourite Hashira’s (so far). Shinobu and Gigu are very cool but I have to say I much prefer (again, so far) the other two Hashira’s who get tons of screen time during the upcoming arcs. Also, another shoutout to the animators over at ufotable for this moment... ( https://gfycat.com/decentreadycockatoo ), the lighting, water breathing effect, with the fluid movement of Tanjiro is just too damn beautiful it brings a tear to my eye. This art is so gorgeous it actually makes me emotional by itself sometimes. To think there are people out there capable of drawing such magnificent things with their own hands is genuinely hard to believe.

benj

Not quite an eternity of time traveling flashbacks that affect the past and future, but still pretty solid as far as decapitation flashbacks go, 8/10.

Alex G

Truly Tanjiro should have inherited the Attack/Founding Titan. He just gets Jaw ...

ArmdVctr

Finally someone who pronounces Inosuke's name correctly!

Ruma Risto

It’s a small moment, but I really love Fifth Form and the fact that Tanjiro clearly always keeps it in mind. From what I can tell, Fifth Form focuses on keeping the blade incredibly still and precise, making the slice as clean and painless as possible. This form likely isn’t used much during real fights (wouldn’t be surprised if Giyu forgot it existed tbh), but Tanjiro clearly wants to use it whenever he can. Compassionate boi

Pye

It took her head 1 and 1/2 backstories to hit the ground. Eren would be proud. And yeah that'll work regarding link placement.

MikeWest

I loved how Tanjiro reacted when Spider Demon waifu snapped everyone's necks but he still stood collected the whole time despite what animosity he was feeling. He knows that letting the emotions take the best of you could lead to deathly mistakes. But then, you could feel how he let out some of that anger when he was about to do the final blow, which instantly, without any hesitation at all, totally vanished when he saw her face and reaction, and changed breathing style. It seems like he realised she was suffering, and remembered how demons were once humans just like Nezuko. Tanjiro is one of the very few characters I have seen that shows true kindness to his most hated enemies. There are definitely some other characters who do this as well, but it usually means they end up letting those foes go on and continue to do evil things. Tanjiro will give his enemies merciful deaths and comfort them in their final moments, but letting them off the hook? Nah bro, you're still getting your head chopped off. I always think back to this quote from the main man in an earlier episode… “I understand your pain, but I can’t forgive someone who has killed so many people.” What an absolute GIGACHAD.

benj

I love what you said about Tanjiro being more free than Inosuke, he seems free from our perspective of society but he has built this cage of being the strongest possibly built by necessity from having to survive in the wild from a young age. Tanjiro also feels a bit like a parental figure to Inosuke with trying to be like him and even one up Tanjiro but also learning from him. The 5th form is never fully explained in the anime as it's told via narration in the manga but it's a painless method that can only be used if a demon presents their neck so its barely ever used

ErrantSara

Yup!

Alex G

Inosuke is just deprived of any social interaction. Your description was perfect: He's wild.

Darby

fun fact: at the end when inosuke finally gets tanjiro's name right, in the japanese, though he pronounces it correctly, its misspelled as a gag for the reader

KuroOberon

i take it you switched where you were getting your episodes from, with the subtitle change from blood moons to kizuki? this version of the sub is definitely better i feel like.

KuroOberon

I feel like this was a huge turning point in how I think about him:)

Alex G

I love Inosuke he's such a good precious boi
