So about the thing about minimizing heroes. What it came across to me as they acknowledge that stain did have some logical points in his twisted ideology. They don't want as few heroes as possible, but they do want as many efficient heroes as possible. They want a mixture of quality and quantity to better fill the gap that Allmight made. A 100 good heroes can be better than 10 great hero or a 1000 mediocre heroes

on the rant about earning an item signifying a milestone, i am excited to earn a series of things in the military. For my job or contract i have to go through alot o different trainings all difficult in their own ways. each will have a graduation ceremony, but the one that will feel the best is the last one, earning a tan beret and a ranger tab. im terrified and super excited.

Nick Deano

His opera quirk, omg, don't just out all the villains' secret quirks like that! ;P But anyway, I love how at the end of last episode, you correctly predicted the exams' outcome, only to talk yourself out of it again at the start of this one and still end up surprised in the end, it was great!

kingafreund

She's carrying around Deku AND Uraraka's blood, ngl that is concerning (assuming I remember the summer training camp arc right)

Nick

I agree. The expression of emotions are much better conveyed in Japanese than they are in English.

Tyler Seder

To sort of answer your Toga comment I believe this is the first time her quirk is explained so now we know why she gathered blood from the people during the attack on the training camp.

MagnusVD

So, I really think you should watch the next episode, or more like the part where they are fighting in japanese. Or at least rewatch it after seeing it in English. Because Bakugous VA really does the most amazing job, and I feel like it shows of more emotions, and makes it even easier to sympathize with him.

Amelia

Hey there's no need to handle it with hostility like calling them a weirdo. They deleted the spoiler comment regarding some other shows after I replied about it so I'm pretty sure they're okay. Otherwise, venting about Deku as a character isn't necessarily bad and I got to post my own take on it so I definitely think it encourages some discussion Anyway yeah just be good people let's try to keep everything chill. I get the frustration though, I just wanna make sure everything's good. edit: oh god I'm talking like a discord moderator sorry. I just don't want the community to become hostile or anything especially to problems that can be worked out amicably. There was a similar situation during AOT's runtime and people pointed it out to the person and they stopped

Nick

bro go outside or something, seriously go touch some grass

benj

You got a patreon John Dalsin who's lowkey spoiling the show and kinda just causing drama lol

SirLagginton

hey dude this is direct spoilers for three series, one of which has been highly requested on the channel and will likely be watched at some point please delete this

Nick

I'm sorry, but i'm not in the mindset that learning how to kick is the same as giving up part of your soul, or anything any other protagonist has done. it feels sad

JDalsing

Update: Your comment on All for one not having his opera quirk killed me, I haven't been able to listen to that theme normally for a while now "Invisible girl was extra invisible, I'm told." Regarding Bakugo and Deku, your commentary was yet again on point this episode. I've only seen the next episode but I completely agree with everything you said. Going by Bakugo's code he lives by, he pretty much has to respect Deku to some extent now. I think it's much more healthy for their dynamic and for Bakugo to be at this stage, because instead of just belitting Deku he can actually focus on the bigger picture. Also, pitching in on the subs/dubs discussion, I don't think it affects commentary much because you latch onto the ideas with or without all star voice acting. Probably the only show I would push for subs on is Re:Zero and that's because the MC's actor won awards for his performance, but even that show has a fantastic dub. So yeah, imo it's not the be all end all and it doesn't ruin the commentary. Thanks for making great content!

Nick

The next episode is one of my all time favorites in all of anime

Jacob Keyser

is this unironic deku hate or am I reading this incorrectly? lmao yeah dude fuck deku and his pure heart, dudes a pussy and should just become All Might 2.0 RIGHT NOW

benj

deku should not be the protagonist. we will have a true hero soon,,, and his sacrifice will be more meaningful than anything anyone does

JDalsing

Deku feels like asta with all the luck, he had the best powerup in the world, why wouldn't he be the best? he sucks, but he has a *pure* heart but that means nothing

JDalsing

Honestly if you merged this episode and the next one into a 40 minute long special, it would quite possibly be the perfect form of a MHA episode. They're really good on their own but they also lead right into one another and just work so well in unison. If MHA ever gets a director cut of sorts, they should definitely merge these two

Nick

Lmao, not Hannibal Lecter All for One... I wish I could unsee it When watching the end of this episode combined with the next one, one really realizes how crucial they are to and for each other's developments as heroes as well as just humans. The next episode is just fantastic!

Jenny bete

yeah when the show first mentioned tartarus my mind also went directly to persona 3 haha

Cassia

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG NEXT EP IS \T H A T\ EPISODE DFKGBSKDBKJDFBGSKJGBKJSGBKJSDBGKJSBG

Brimmy

in a massive twist, the series ends with Mineta being the new symbol of peace and the greatest hero in the world.

Alex G

Yeah the feedback + second chance is kind of awesome. You can already see it working for Todoroki, who definitely used the chance to reflect and sees the follow up exercise as an opportunity to apply what he's learned. That seems like a more productive outcome than a damaged career for someone so talented.

Alex G

I will never forgive the people on here who told him and everyone else to watch this show in dub for making me miss out on that performance. Rewatched the next episode in sub recently and its MILES better than the dub, almost makes me wanna rewatch the whole show to be honest.

benj

Its currently my favorite episode of the entire show

benj

Hannibal Lector lmfao. What a movie that is. Also, if Mineta does get a true character arc and actually uses his libido to motivate himself into becoming a complete well rounded person/hero this show will officially be the greatest show ever made…unfortunately there’s like a .0001% chance of this happening. Mineta is still the man tho.

benj

Next episode is one of the best!

Alacor

I agree, I think it's more important for their own personal journey as heros rather than for use for deku's development.

Skyler Anderson

My thoughts on why hero society keeps talking about Stain and hero elitism is similar to what you were saying about heroes trying to grapple with the ideas of villains to make their own ideas stronger. When they talk about how there are a lot of heroes, they aren't wholly embracing Stain's ideology, they are just exploring and discussing the ideas he presented, maybe even for the benefit of the students. But the actual conclusions they arrive at might be different.

Nathan

Man right now is one of those times I wish you watched the sub for this show, Bakugou's Japanese voice gives one of the best performances I've seen in anime next episode

Francesca White

Super excited for next episode. Great work from the legendary Yutaka Nakamura next episode. Bakugou has always had a focus on strength like Endeavor with the idea that someone is strong if they can win no matter what. We see that when he gets kidnapped by villains when he flashbacks to him as a kid saying "Allmight's so cool, no matter what trouble he's in he always win." Deku is the opposite of that with a mentality of saving everyone with a smile no matter the cost. Deku is focused on saving, and bakugou is focused on winning, which are both valid motivations.

Skyler Anderson

They announce they're fighting: "Well that won't solve anything."

Skyler Anderson

As an aspiring educator, I love that they gave the students who failed a chance to redeem themselves. Like you said, test are really just there to measure a students knowledge, more so we should be focusing on their application of the skills they learned. Even if they failed, or got it wrong, it is important for the students to learn from their mistakes and attempt to surpass their current selves. It's all about the process :)

Athena

A reminder for the post credits scene next episode! And now onto the video!

Nick

Not sure if you realized, but the intro actually shows who passes and fails in 1A. Everyone is frozen in the air while Bakugo and Todoroki are on the ground looking on. At the time, viewers like me thought that this was a sign that some characters were in danger (a freezing type quirk or something). But finally, two of the big 3 of 1A have been humbled. I think it was right to have Todoroki and Bakugo fail from a narrative POV. They both serve as foils for Deku, but where Deku isn't dealing with emotional baggage, the other 2 have so much to work through before they can call themselves heroes.
