It might be an improvement. At least it's exercise

Alex G

Anyone who wants to date Aizawa has to meet my strict criteria

Alex G

I know here at the Goodwin TV channel we often criticize the modern public school system, but seriously... have you ever just considered... laser tag exams?

Nick

I just realized the provisional license exam arc is literally them playing laser tag but with balls and super-powered quirks why can't all exams be like that???

Nick

Kinda makes me think of the unabomber. Afaik, he believed what he was doing was for a just cause (his whole beliefs towards technology and such if I'm not mistaken) but he still killed a lot of people. It's kind of like, well sure you might have a bit of a point but going out and killing people isn't a good way of enacting change. The statement it makes is hollow.

Nick

I appreciate that you're not taken in by Stain's ideology, coz I've grown real tired of all the "Stain is right actually" takes I've seen. Like, people get kinda starstruck? Just coz there's an element of truth in there somewhere, doesn't make the crazy murderer "right". So yeah, really liked that whole aside there.

kingafreund

Alot of that is also just manipulating your money between other successful endeavors which seems dishonest to those who labored for however many years only to make not enough money to be worth risking in the stock market.

Logan Bradford

Yea Google News spoiled something for me as well lmao

Logan Bradford

Watch out on the Youtube comments for these vids guys, I just got a MASSIVE thing spoiled for me for MHA that hasn't even happended yet in the Anime and im very pissed. When will I learn to just not read youtube comments....even goodwins channel of good intelligent reaction fans still attracts 1% of the smoothie brains.

Fun Facts: Ms. Joke's ultimate goal is to make Aizawa laughs but she never succeeded, he was always one step ahead in erasing her quirk xD She also appeared earlier in the series during Sport Festival. She was one of the pro heroes who shows support to Shinso after his lost to Deku. If Aizawa is Shonso's "dad" she's definitely Shinso's "mom"

Ice

I think someone doesn't like Ms. Joke because she's puttin the moves on your man.

Revin MacGrath

Ive got no problem with the rich, I have a problem with the ultra rich (tm) No one person should have the amount of money that Jeff bezos and co have. It’s always because of exploitation and co. Just see how much wealth he gained during the pandemic.

Anna Lena Ciplajevs

Also Fun Fact this is not the first time we meet Ms Joke, she actually was in the audience of the tournament arc and she even had some speaking lines. (She commented on the Deku vs Shinso Fight)

MagnusVD

This is my favorite arc in the show. I’m excited ! 😁

LudicrouslyLuke

My favorite part about anime/shows with a big cast of characters is seeing them interact with one another. Especially when new characters are introduced and we are able to see them share exchanges with the og cast and see their reactions to what we already know. Super excited for the next season though! My faves are on the way :)

Athena

Yeah 1000%. People should not have billions of dollars. No one is talking about your local millionaire, it’s about the super Rich who barely pay any taxes at all.

Anna Lena Ciplajevs

Nobody cares about the episode, everyone is here for that end credit beach training outro lol, but in all seriousness, that gives me inspiration to be more healthy

Juan Valencia

Do your parents' financial hardships even deserve to breathe?

MikeWest

completely disagree on the rich thing, and i don't know anyone saying there should be no inheritance. the so called "death tax" only applies to multi millionaires and only kicks in AFTER the first mil or 5. Also, thanks for the beach episode :P

Kamolak

Alright the ending beach training was good.

Drake Chuckle

That beach training montage LOL You went plus ultra.

Vinicius Colucci

Romantic is a great way of putting it. There is something very grand and emotional about his way of looking at it. I guess for me I don't think it's greedy for pro heroes to want to earn money, even if that is their primary motivation. And the same is true if they want fame. I think there's a separation between all of these different ideas. People can be virtuous and want to earn money as a pro. People can be greedy and also virtuous in other ways. People can seek neither fame or fortune yet still be cynical. That's why I think the solution is the opposite of Stain's desire to boil things down to simple emotional colors, and instead take a more nuanced approach to looking at each person individually.

Alex G

I would argue that it's also impossible to amass that amount of wealth without creating something that lots of people want and use. It gets tricky here because the fact that people use a product or service does not necessarily mean the business is good for the world (or does it? this is another "who gets to decide" moment). Part of my point is that there is a relationship between all parties, it is not just unilateral evil force exerted upon the world by the mega rich (generally speaking). For example, exploiting workers BY ITSELF can't be the whole story - Where does the money come from? So the idea of a villain class doesn't hold much water. There's an interconnectedness with society there, and I think the deeper you get the more difficult it is to really blame a single actor or party.

Alex G

Stain is not ultimately an utilitarian, he's a romantic. His displeasure with hero society isn't based on public safety stats, but on the moral character of heroes. I understand what you are implying: that great Friedman quote "getting the wrong people to do the right things - something something incentives" (my brilliant paraphrase), but Stain doesn't care if crime rates are down 14,57% YOY, his challenge is of moral nature: should a good society uphold a group of greedy and cynical people as the paragons of virtue?

Caio Miranda

Yeah it does make a certain amount of sense to reduce the number of heroes based on what they think they need and what they can afford (unless they, like UA, also have an unlimited budget). But is it just me or is this sleepy guy really confused? And it seems intentional to me that part of their decision is not a cool-headed cost-benefit analysis but rather a fear based reaction to all the weirdness going on since Stain.

Alex G

I think there is a valid differentiation between the 'rich' and the 'mega rich'. Bezos, Musk, the amount of wealth they hold is impossible to gain without exploiting thousands of the working class. That amount of money makes one untouchable in today's society.

Sam B

I also was surprisingly touched by Aizawas personal comment with Mineta. I’ve also always thought Mineta has SO MUCH potential with his smarts and honestly amazing quirk (we’ve never seen anything escape his sticky balls)

Rudy Strother

1.) I agree. I want to hear more about the crush. 2.) Agreed, it's nice seeing Aizawa be his awesome teacher self with Mineta. 3.) I think the thing with having fewer students pass the exam is that they noticed Stain's effect on cities where he improved the crime rate by weeding out certain heroes. The ones left afterwards were more dutiful. They've mentioned before that during All Might's time, the heroes were taking it easy. Also they are paid by the government. I think that was mentioned before at some point. So they want to address all of that with a quality-over-quantity approach. I could be missing something else but that's what I took away from it. EDIT: a previous comment (which you responded to already) said it a little better I think soo.... Yeah :)

KJ Gaona

That makes sense, they are clearly also succumbing to the impact of Stain and the shift in public opinion. But this guy seems all over the place. Maybe it's a mistranslation or something but there's the line about heroes solving problems too quickly... It's like, isn't that ideal?

Alex G

Big fan of your beach training arc, I'd say top 3 for me

Torai

It’s all just perspective and semantics, basically

Jake White

I’ve honestly never heard people complain about this arc

Jake White

Lol I like the way you saw when All Might said he was “a weakling now, someone who needs to be protected,” and then were like, “no that definitely wasn’t it,” and then went on to basically say the exact same thing, just with different words lol. Yeah, Bakugo was fearful of hurting the hero he always respected and admired. But that’s because All Might is powerless now and they feel like they need to protect him since they care about him so much lol.

Jake White

People don’t like this arc, but I think it’s a fun concept. Heroes are paid by the government based on how well they do as you speculated at the end. I think a big thing with them saying the hero profession is overpopulated is as simple as that, they haven’t been overly strict on licensing in the past and hero professions are basically every kids dream, resulting in an absurd number of heroes that are the equivalent of pencil pushers in an office.

Kollie123

also there's more to this theory than what i explained here, but this is what i know of it

Francesca White

there's actually a theory that Uraraka doesn't actually have a crush on Deku, and that she's confusing her admiration for romantic feelings. this is because of the whole Toga speech where Toga talked about how "when you like someone you want to be just like them", plus Uraraka has never herself said she liked Deku, only those around her. i don't know if i believe this considering she's always blushing and stuff around him, but i think it's an interesting theory anyway

Francesca White

Heroes are paid by the government based individually on the issues they solve. Once any hero action is done, there is a bunch of paperwork that the hero agency needs to complete in order to be compensated by the government. The heroes are not under fire from the GOVERNMENT for being greedy, but under fire from public opinion. If public opinion of government departments and government servants (heroes) falls, then those governments are either replaced or overthrown. This is them trying to be more intense about their vetting in order to appease public displeasure.
