So many people i know that have watched or tried watching this show just call it hokey inspiration porn anime and abandon it. I mean it can get cheesy at times yes but its such an important anime that helps explore all sorts of mental illness's not only in adults but teenagers too. I love how genuine your interest is and that you actually take this show seriously <3

I remember picking up this show when it was airing its final season just a couple months ago, binging it and thinking to myself "wouldn't it be the greatest thing ever if Goodwin did a full reaction series to this? Too bad it'll literally never happen" andddd here we are! Your analysis on Tohru's dynamic and why they want her around so bad is so good and accurate. LOL your first reaction to Akito's introduction was fucking priceless, "A lot of trauma there, on both sides it seems...." holyyyyy shit dude. You have no idea.

This show is as rich with female-specific fantasies as harem anime are rich with male-specific fantasies, but the thing they all have in common is the universal desire to be special and have people recognize that and show us their vulnerabilities because of that. Competition for romance or sex is merely the most obvious expression of that dynamic. One uniquely female perspective explored by this show is that a lot of women feel conflicting feelings of attraction and being threatened by men, for completely understandable reasons. In this show, the MC can enjoy living with hot guys who are occasionally naked without any fear at all, since as soon as they touch her they turn into cute animals.

I think it's because despite my enormous excitement over this remake series when it premiered, it wasn't really chosen that often by most reactors. It just wasn't a very popular show with them. Because of it being non-action anime, maybe? Anyway, needless to say, very hyped to see you watch one of my favourite stories ever. Still haven't finished watching the anime, but I read the manga all the way through and WHOA NELLY we gonna be going places...

More characters will get introduced soon, in fact one of my favorite things about this show is the large cast of characters. I love seeing all their unique personalities interact with each other and with Tohru. I’m especially looking forward to seeing your analysis on the family head, Akito, who was briefly introduced in this episode. Kyo’s a character if wasn’t totally sure of in beginning, but he grew on very much. I’m excited for you to see his growth. I already think you nailed his character right on the head. One important thing I want to say before you go on to future episodes is that most of the Soma’s aren’t actually blood related, they’re just a clan. I was veryyyyy confused for a few episodes in the near future cause I didn’t realize that little fact.
