EARLY ACCESS: Should The BET Hip-Hop Awards Fade Away?
Added 2024-10-22 07:04:50 +0000 UTCThis past week BET hosted their annual Hip-Hop Awards Show.....but nobody knew. We discuss whether or not it's time for BET to fade away as an award show and what they could possible do to revamp fans of the genre into tuning in. The most obvious answer of course are the Cyphers. Let us know what you think below?

Serious question, but if commercial hip hop loses more power (but doesn't completely go away), what do you think will happen? There doesn't seem to be a lot of cross pollination anymore at this point. How many people enjoy AKAI SOLO and MIKE and Armand Hammer etc., but also listen to BossMan Dlow etc. More importantly, how many people buy both sides music and go to shows and discuss them on social media etc.? IDK. At this point, I'm content with supporting the art I like that needs support and ignoring the stuff I don't like, and that goes for all genres. To be clear, I'm not advocating for commercial hip hop to lose power and impact, but what I'm not so sure about anymore is that this issue can be solved anyway. To me, actively passionate people will continue to try out music of all kinds, and then there's always going to be a glut of people who will only listen to certain things that are popular. It is what it is.
