Also the fact that it doesn't behave like any regular titan -even though we know it's intelligent- was super unsettling. It was like a higher being that knew something we didn't and it was absolutely terrifying to my younger self.

It becomes a lot of high adrenaline action while maintaining those character driven moments we all love. This is also when Titan intrigue goes up massively with the introduction of the Female Titan, and all of these minor details

That’s ALL I can say without spoilers. Welcome to (in my opinion) one of the best arcs of the entire show, although there are even better ones later on. If you do a rewatch when you finish the show, you’ll notice so many details it’s crazy Okay enthusiasm over.

The way they use the formation and smoke signals to create tension through the limited communication is brilliant. Not to mention the introduction of the Female Titan and, as you said, the focusing on characters outside of Erin and the more elite soldiers. This whole Expedition arc is where I really began to get hooked on and love the show haha
