🗞️✨ Dev Update Week 4 - Team Updates & Progress Report!

Hello everyone!

First of all, thank you so much for your continued support. It means the world to me, and now more than ever, I’m excited to share some big updates with you.

🎉 New Team Members!

This month, we’ve officially welcomed four new members to the Lucky Us team, and I’d love to introduce them to you all!

🌟Wonder – Writer

Wonder originally joined us near the end of last year, helping with proofreading. As some of you know, English is not my first language, and Wonder’s background in English education has been incredibly helpful these past few months.


Today, I’m excited to announce that Wonder is no longer just our proofreader, but officially one of our writers!

Here’s a message from Wonder for you all:

Hello everyone! It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I’m Wonder, and I’m one of your writers on the Lucky Us team. Storytelling has always been important to me and my studies, so I’m excited to bring my eye for detail to the table. I hope you love this project as much as I love bringing it to life.

🌙 Crescent – Writer

Joining us this month as well is Crescent, another talented writer! Here’s his message:

Hi! My name's Crescent. I graduated with a bachelor of arts in English literature. I really like to read and write science fiction and fantasy novels. I'm currently one of the writers for a May Wolf Game Jam project, and I’ll also be helping out with the writing for Lucky Us. Nice to meet you all!

🦁 Roan – Editor

Next up is Roan, who will be supporting us as our editor. He’s already had a huge impact on our workflow. Here's his intro:

Hello everyone! I'm Roan, and I've been a member of the furry community for a little over a decade now. I'm an indie video game developer. I found out about Lucky Us on Bluesky—it's been circulating in the muscle-enjoyer circles, which definitely caught my interest because I'm a sucker for a broad-shouldered hunk!


I’ve had some experience writing and editing VNs in the past. Besides writing advice, I’ll also be giving feedback on gameplay mechanics since game design is where I have the most experience.

💾 Helix – Programmer

Howdy! I'm Helix and I'm a programmer! I dabble in a lot of things but mainly focus on VN development and turn-based RPGs. I want to make RPGs for a living one day! Some of my interests include Digimon, Power Rangers, and SMT/Persona. Nice to meet y'all!

🗒️ Dev Report: Journal System Preview

You may have seen a small preview of the Journal system recently! We’ve been working on polishing its visual side.

The journal will act as a personal gallery and character compendium:



🧑‍💼 New Leadership Role + Visual Overhaul

With so much help now on the writing side, I (Beribear) am stepping more into a creative director/lead writer role. I’ve already drafted the full story outline, but I’ll be relying on the experience of our writers and editor to elevate it to its best form.

My ultimate goal is to deliver something the furry community can love—a story made by furries, for furries, and hopefully one that inspires others to make their own VNs someday.

Thanks to the shift in responsibilities, I’ve been able to focus much more on the visual presentation of the game. Originally, only Travis was going to have multiple poses...
But now, almost the entire cast has new pose variations!

Next week, I aim to finish the remaining character poses, giving everyone a much wider range of expressions and body language!

🎵 Music, Animalese & VFX Update

As shared earlier in development, Bushybuns is still on board as our composer. Although he had some personal setbacks around late March that delayed music production, I’m happy to report he’s back and more energized than ever this week! 🎶 We’re excited to resume work on the soundtrack.

Additionally, the game now includes Animalese-style voice sounds, along with sound effects for grunts, sighs, and other vocal cues, etc. These little touches help bring the characters to life and enhance the emotional tone of their dialogue.

An example of this will be shared at the end as a video file.

🧪 Demo & Testing Update

Thanks to Roan’s arrival, I’ve been producing test builds every 3-4 days for internal QA.
Roan has been amazing in spotting bugs, narrative issues, and improving player experience. He also helped identify areas of opportunity in the original scripts to ensure the writing matches the quality of the visuals.

That said, I had originally promised a demo launch around the 20s of this month.
However, with so many big changes and a brand-new team coming together, we've decided to delay the demo slightly.

I take full responsibility for this delay and to show my commitment and appreciation, I’ll be refunding this month’s pledges as well. The last thing I want is for you, my supporters, to lose trust in this project or in me.

📅 Final Notes

We’re currently discussing internally to commit to a final release date for the demo. Something we can all agree on as a team and absolutely deliver.

Once we align on everyone’s availability and workload this week, I’ll be back with a clear date for you all. Probably as a quick message update!
