Madam Black was so funny! I also loved how it made me go, oh yikes 😬, at times hahahahah But the film's also really endearing. Like, how Marcus could've just not cared at all, but he did and that accident changed all of their lives in a way. And seeing to what lengths he'd go to not hurt her, but also maybe he should've just told her the truth. And how much is it him saving face too...Actually my mom and dad could've done a bit better themselves 😂 this happened to my first cat too (the car accident) but they told me he fell in love with the white cat across the street and that they're getting married and will live together from now on. I always wondered why I never saw him again if he's still in the neighborhood. Even started disliking the white cat thinking she took him from me, but I loved him so much I was like, as long as he's happy, I'm happy. I was devastated when I found out he didn't leave to get married. I was also regretful about my negative emotions towards the white cat. That must've been really difficult for them. Not just having to find an explanation for me but knowing about his tragedy and being careful not to let it show. There's so much you put into it. The film's really great! The postcards were incredible 😂😌 The inspo for it tho😅😂 I love how you could turn it into this big thing and maybe self soothe in that way. If someone knows about existential crises, it's Kafka lmao makes sense how he came up with the doll explanation hahaha. I didn't know that story tho, that was pretty fascinating to read too. Hope you're feeling better, and still resting, not stressing 💕 you sounded like you're really going through it, but your coughs are sexy too😌✨ (if this isn't the third time posting it😭)

Ah, the edge of burnout. The precipice you stand on when you realize all your experience and dedication to your craft has lead you down the capitalist-artists mantra of “just pay the bills, just pay the bills”. Sometimes it takes years to find the project that saves your sad washed up butt. Glad he found his when he did, black cats are VERY lucky. I’m always reminded that well written things invoke emotion. You’ve made me cry, several times now, and I hate you for it (just kidding ;), I live for the feels). Anywho, film nerd moment: the use of color, the editing and pacing reminded me of Wes Andersons work, like late 90’s- on. It’s got that nice smacky punch of dark humor.

At first when I saw the dead cat stuck in the wheel well I was like “What kind of animal snuff film is this!?!” Then I really felt emotionally touched by Marcus’ efforts to keep Madame Black alive for the little girl. I can’t believe how much emotional connection to the characters one can develop in such a short film. Very well done. Anyway I hope you feel better today. My neighbor has been letting their “outdoor” (black) cat out the last few nights to terrorize the village. So when said cat made my guard dog bark at 3 am, waking me…. what a perfect opportunity to watch Madam Black during my once regular TTT of night. It felt meant to be. 💜 I don’t want to feel like I am trying to write a review for an entry level film class, because this deserves more respect than my professional BS-ing for the sake of sounding intelligent… so I will just sound like myself… I love it SO SO SO SO SO SO SO MUCH! SO WORTH THE WAIT. No disappointment anywhere. I can’t get over that cat’s face. (AND THE SOUND OF IT BEING PULLED FROM THE WHEEL WELL 😂🤢) Roy made my day. That was a nice little twist. 💜 The innocence combined with the plethora of “fucks” felt so relatable to my world. When I was a child, we had a little black cat; our first cat. His name was Altéma (a weird name that my sister yelled to scare him into running around the house). The name stuck. Poor cat on his first day at home; my sister scared him and I was screaming and crying because I was afraid of him. I didn't want to leave my room anymore. The next day it was a horror to go to school. We had to lock him up so that I could go out. Afterwards, I loved him so much that he slept with me and I was the only one who could clean him. My aunts would ask my mother why she had taken a black cat; it was bad luck because they had many lives and could be reincarnated into bad things. Not superstitious at all, aunties! Our cat did not bring us bad luck. Anyway, I just thought of this with the movie; Madam Black's different journeys and rebirths. In any case, it was a good omen for Marcus and his positive rebirth for sure! 🥹 Merci Matthew, I had a great time watching. 💜

Actually, I'll amend my previous comment. The cat on the clothesline is amazing, but after a second viewing, I think my favorite part is Marcus snuggling Madam Black in bed. It's such a great "show, don't tell" moment of characterization where you can feel his desire for connection, but also see how wide the gap is between what he wants and what he has. Marcus starts the film totally disconnected; he is literally at a remove from the other characters, behind his camera, and all of his interactions are mediated through fantasy (the backdrops, the fiction about Madam Black's trip). As the story progresses and Marcus becomes more invested in Tilly (yes, and her mom) he goes from treating Madam Black like trash, to an object (hung up on the clothesline or stuffed in the fridge) to a stuffed animal -- which I'm pretty sure makes her some form of "real" by the Velveteen Rabbit rules. But fantasy is unstable ground for genuine connection, which requires both honesty and vulnerability. When Marcus sees Tilly's uncle, the fantasy of the relationship implodes and he ends up burying Madam Black, and the flowers he had thought to bring as a romantic offering to Tilly's mom end up adorning the cat's grave instead. The fantasy is dead. It is only when Marcus is honest and vulnerable, acknowledging what happened (the taxidermy box is the best gift box of all time, btw) and shows up not because he's hoping to get something out of it, but because he genuinely cares for Tilly, that there's the chance for something real to develop. I probably just over-analyzed that, but at this point I'm starting to think of that as my love language. 🤣🤣💜💜 Basically, I really liked the film and appreciate the craft involved in writing it. 🥰 Also, I couldn't help but notice that the Hot Bods erotic photography flier was in Tower purple...

Do you guys wanna hear an ironic little story. So when I was younger my mom was driving and we hit a black cat😩 it turned out to be one of the neighbors that I was closet to. It’s engrained into my mind because it was terrible. I still remember having to knock on her door to tell her. I think she would have appreciated his effort😅

Just a few of the many wholesome interactions today: Me: Do you need any help today? Man: I always need help Me: Sure let me get you something. *hands him a care package, sandwich, fruit bar, and chips of his choice* Man: What’s all this for anyway? Me: *shrugs* My birthday. Man: *incredulous expression* It’s your birthday and you’re handing out stuff? Me: Yeah! I like to make people happy! 😊 He seemed surprised, but thankful. I approached a small group of men sitting in a parking lot and asked if they’d like some food. They gratefully accepted. I then pulled out care packages and proceeded to hand one to each of them. 3 accepted, one was hesitant to accept so much from one person. I said “It’s my birthday and this is how I want to celebrate.” The group erupted in a round of “happy birthday!” and “thank you so much!” Another small group of men I approached got a bunch of goodies, and they were all extremely happy. One young man opened up the care package and took out a pair of socks to show his friend. The look on his face when he saw his new socks warmed my heart to the core. Today was a good day!!! 😁😁😁

Have you always been a cat person, or did this develop from the film? I wish there were something I could do to make you feel better from my corner of the world, but the mail is too slow for soup. Ok, I officially hate that we don’t live in the same hemisphere and I can’t be there to take care of you.😤 I think the first fan fic I wrote when I was a wee-baby Fan Girl was for a show called Dark Angel with Jessica Alba. In it, her character was sick and had to be taken care of by the male protagonist. I don’t remember what happened, but it was probably a lot of fluff and watching cartoons together. Are you someone that wants to be touched when you’re sick? For the most part, I'm not. But with the flu, you probably have some achy muscles, right? I wish I could be there to massage them for you. What is your comfort food when you’re sick? Something plain and easy or maybe something spicy to clear the sinuses? I hate this. I hate you being sick. 😾 I’ll sit down in a bit and watch Madam Black. I just had a Zoom class get out and I just found out I have to register for a conference on Thursday so it’s going to be a little while before I’m in the right headspace to sit down and enjoy your work. Matthew👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 it was so good! And so clever! I thought to myself is it morbid that I laughed when he hung her up on the clothes line. But those little pieces of comedic relief contrasting the heaviness of having to cover up her death helped create such amazing dynamics. Ugh and when he thought the mom was taken😭 I felt so dejected, like I felt the pang in my chest too. Also Tilly is so child-like in her curiosity. It doesn’t feel like she’s playing a little girl do you know what I mean. It reminded me of my boys and I was like this is so realistic and believable. Also her not being upset by the last card but what wasn’t mentioned🥺 and then the box at the end, I mirrored the mom’s face like “please god don’t let her be wearing a party hat”🤣 it was so fluid in how it progressed and at pulling us in it felt like I had watched a full movie. Like we knew them intimately after only a few minutes and I felt so invested. I think you were born to create in so many different ways. I think you bleed into what you work on and the authenticity of how you approach topics shows. I’m so proud of you and humbled by your humility and drive and passion and the way you make me want to push myself to work at my craft. I’m moved and inspired by your dedication and how hard you work. The time you devote and your intention in everything you do. I don’t know how I got so lucky to come into your path. I look up to you so much❤️ Do you think there’ll ever be a day you don’t amaze me? because I seriously doubt there’ll ever be. I can’t imagine myself never not being bowled over by you. Xx.

Poor beebee! 🤱I'm always a big weenie when I'm sick, so I fully support you wallowing as much as you want! 🫂🫂🫂 I am very hearty and I don't let pathogens tell me how to live my life! 😆 So, I'm here for home care duties (booby pillows and noggin/hair stroking are included in all service packages). If you've got throat issues, my #1 recommendation is to gargle with an antiseptic mouthwash at least every 4hr. (My choice is Cool Mint Listerine, but anything antiseptic will do.) I also have a cranberry/orange black tea blend that I like with whisky and honey as my emotional support beverage whenever I'm sick. 🫖 I'm glad others mentioned having trouble with the video because I totally thought it was just me. I'll try again with the link above. I've been trying to write a new smutty story for awhile now and just haven't been able to focus. So I'm taking this break in the schedule as a sign that I should work on that tonight! 😆 Take care of yourself, sweet baby Matty! 😚💜

Well done my friend😘 We have a black cat, Cooper, he is a house cat and earlier this year he got out was gone for 3 weeks my girls went out daily looking for him. One day my youngest mite and I were running an errand and Clara turned to me with tears and said "Cooper is never coming home is he?". I took a deep breath and said, " Sweetie I don't know, I think he may have found another family who loves him just like we do....." A week later about 7:30 am on a Sunday I walk out for a run and there was Cooper, he jumped into my arms all I could do was hug him and cry......he got lots of loving that day and since😊

I feel like it has been 100 years since I had some solid tower time. Everything has been busy and I am starting to feel like time is attacking me like in a horror movie when the clock is all wonky and it ticks loudly and the character is pulling out their hair and sweating. Well I am not sweating nor pulling out my hair but it is getting close. All this to say that I am so sorry you are ill but better for me that it is now rather than later. I am not sure if I would have been able to enjoy it fully today. No worries in your honor I will enjoy you somehow s3xually before using you for sleep. Hey everyone! Sorry to hear you feel awful friend 😞! My recommendation: Tumeric tea with lemon,orange, and garlic and dash of cayenne pepper with honey to taste. Also I cannot open the movie link 🙁. If you lived close I would bring you West Indian soup and other bush tea to fight off the flu. Oh! If you really want to draw the flu out get some rum (white rum) and put some in your hands, smell it and pour a little on your head top. Then put some on under the soles of your feet. Wear socks. Wrap up under the blankets and sweat it out. Just my flu tips and tricks from the Islands. Get well 🤗
