How's that for a summary of my activities lately? Even more horrible than usual, right? Well, I've been crazy busy with scenes containing more than one character. Those gobble up time like crazy. Then there's the scene winner scene and just a bunch of smaller files for the next update.
All those small ones are like a snowball rolling down a snowy slope, picking up speed and mass.
It's pretty much the reason why I kept postponing this art update It was a constant process of "okay I'll write an update once I finish this drawing/scene/thingy". And this kept repeating itself.
As I've already mentioned the next update is going to have "a bit" of a different feel once you... oh no I thought of a using a word which would definitely give it away. Not gonna do that. I've seen you guys decode an earlier cryptic "hint" with scary accuracy (or just luck?). Let's just say it needs a lot of new stuff and there wasn't much we could reuse. I've already said too much. Please don't tell me your guess and just be happy you were right once we've released the new build. You're perfectly welcome to tell us "I knew it!" when the time comes :)
It's not just graphics I've turned my attention to. I've also tried a bit of coding. Nothing too serious, but sometimes when I lack inspiration to draw and still want to spend my time usefully I try finding some solutions for small coding problems. it's generally the stuff which everyone can do with a basic understanding of what coding is and google at their disposal.
It can be very fulfilling to find a solution to a problem, trying it out and seeing it actually works! I've also learned I don't have what it takes to be a proper coder. The levels of anger/frustration I can reach when error messages fill my screen is only sliiiiightly less than my stubbornness to keep on going.
Of course it's usually better left to the people who actually know what they're doing, but I do think it's important to have at least a basic understanding of what the coder/writer has to go through so my requests don't get too unrealistic. Having to deal with part of that crazy-ness myself certainly helps to gauge how doable/impossible some things are.
I'd love to tell you all about it, but right now we have to decide whether to include a new game mechanic which would also need new drawings etc and as you can see on your calendar it's already the twentieth. Seriously, I think there's something wrong with mine because it always seems to be ahead by a day or six.
