Episode 272: Solar Eclipses And The Politics of Fear feat. Arthur Goldwag
Added 2024-03-26 04:06:11 +0000 UTCAmericans sure love being paranoid. And they’re not always paranoid for sensible reasons, like ever-expanding corporate and governmental surveillance systems. Sometimes they’re paranoid about natural and predictable astronomical events.
For this episode we discuss why the conspiracist world is fretting about the solar eclipse that will be seen across the United States on April 8th. We also chat with Arthur Goldwag, author of the recently published book The Politics of Fear: The Peculiar Persistence of American Paranoia.

2024-03-28 23:42:08 +0000 UTCHey boys, I feel like it is my Oregonian duty to let you know that the Civil War was the name for the rivalry game between the University of Oregon and Oregon State University up until a couple years ago. So the news broadcast was just comparing a football game to a more intense football game, though they were using the outdated name for the game. Anyways, great episode, as always, and Go Ducks! (The University of Oregon’s mascot).
