PERVERTS Episode 1: Gooning feat Jesse Farrar & Mike Hale of the Your Kickstarter Sucks Podcast

A podcast where Liv Agar and Julian Feeld venture into horny online subcultures and take you along for the ride.

Gooning, Gooners, Goonettes, the Goon State and Goon Caves. Is it just copious masturbation? Is it the overconsumption of pornography? Is it a tantric state? Is it a solo or group thing? Is it gay? Is it an online community? Why not all of these things, all the time, everywhere, forever? This first episode of PERVERTS we are joined by Jesse Farrar and Mike Hale of the Your Kickstarter Sucks Podcast to discuss.

This series was brought to you by the QAA podcast. Thanks for supporting us on patreon!

I was really upset and disappointed with how this episode was handled. My expectation was that there would be a connection or overarching societal link to the new age kinks. Instead of getting commentary I listened as 4 people derided things said in other people's online spaces designated for people to talk about their lifestyle. These are areas where this was the primary topic and not something someone would stumble upon and therefore not be consenting. I would feel the same way as if you had gone into a kink club, looked around, and then made a podcast where you made fun of someone who was getting whipped while asking what sort of mental problems they have. One of the main parts of this was the reading of a long Gooner post. Where basically you found someone who seemed like they have had difficult times mentally and has created coping mechanisms that are not what you feel is appropriate. Instead of becoming a full incel and harassing others online they seem to be obsessed with porn. Instead of compassion, depersonalized commentary, or any kind of empathy you just made fun of someone to your patrons and acted like you were better than them. The way that this kink was talked about made it sound like anyone who felt this way was an idiot or a delinquent (or pervert). It was not taken into consideration that these may be a valid display of sexuality, a coping mechanism, neurodivergence, or even the bare minimum that it is a product of a society. People's sexuality and kink are tender subjects for anyone and as long as everyone is consenting no one should be made to feel ashamed of it or have some random person on the internet demean them for it. I really enjoy QAA and other aspects of the podcast. I ask that if you continue to make this set of shows that you please consider your words more carefully and provide a purpose rather than using someone's life online to point and laugh at. Rant done.
