Update #1 - Kim Part 2 - Narrative Scenes WIPS

So, now that we've officially wrapped up all the sexual scenes, we counted a total of 30 smutty scenes completed over all these months. The first shot for Kim was finished in April 2024, meaning Kim's animation is taking exactly one year to complete. Kim has a loooot of shots, and we genuinely enjoyed tackling something this ambitious! :D Big projects like this taught us that patience, consistency, and taking it one step at a time make all the difference.

Now the tricky part is stitching all these scenes into an actual story. We usually grab a beer or coffee and chat about where we wanna take things. We always start with an initial idea, but honestly, it always ends up changing along the way. Plus, we love throwing personal conflicts and desires into our animations—it just makes everything feel way more real. For this animation, we originally planned for the bull from the party to be the Auditor, but we decided to go for a plot twist to make things more interesting. We don't wanna spoil too much and keep it as a surprise.
For the office scenes, just like with the smutty ones, we start with a 3D blocking pass, then combine everything together to bring the story to life.
As you saw in Part 1, for Kim's animation we chose a flashback structure, alternating between present and past to tell the story. It works great for mixing SFW and NSFW content, which is exactly why we used it in Fireside too!
We'll keep you updated throughout the entire animation process. Sharing the journey with you guys is honestly so much fun :D Next post we will share a little of how we write dialogues and work with our talented VA's

I start with a general structure of the head with a neutral expression (the 3D blocking helps a lot with this) and then I draw, erase, transform, deform, etc. The main parts of the face (eyes, eyebrows, maw) until I feel satisfied with it. I particularly love Kritas "Mesh" transform tool for this. But I cannot stress enough the iterative nature of it. None of the drawings you see are my first try. I just clean it up or make new layers as much as I can so the drawing is clear

2025-03-22 23:17:47 +0000 UTCGood references is the key! I actually use three kinds: - Myself: I record myself acting the expressions. I use this to nail the exact expression I want. I also keep a mirror close in case I need to reference a specific part I missed. - Animals: Try to look for pictures of the animal as close as possible to the expression. - Art: Find references of other artists that have already solved it graphically matching your syle. In my case I reference Disney-like styles. And then it's just an iterative process of combining the three together. Depending on the expression and angle it will be more or less difficult. When I really struggle I make a study of each kind of reference for it to really stick with me. I sometimes even trace them to understand them at first (specially with hand gestures) and then construct them using that knowledge.
