As a student of history and philosophy, I think I must understand the nature of history and politics better than most people, so I am not taboo about talking about religious issues, but because I am currently an atheist, I am not that interested to talk about it

Giantess Luce is attacking Constantinople (Istanbul)
next one I want to draw the Battle of Vienna
First, religion has been a double-edged sword throughout human history, that for sure. On one hand, it has provided a sense of community, moral guidance, and purpose for countless individuals. That's especially true in Europe.Religion is a powerful force to inspired magnificent works of art, architecture, and literature, and has been a source of comfort and hope in times of hardship. In China, we also receive the common influence of religion and Confucianism. This influence is basically similar to that of you Europeans.
Of course religion has also been a source of conflict, division, and oppression.Religious wars almost ran through all European history, and have been fought in its name, and it has been used to justify discrimination and violence. The Crusades, the Inquisition, and various religious persecutions are stark reminders of the darker side of religious fervor.
In essence, religion's impact on human history is complex and multifaceted. It has the power to unite and uplift, but also to divide and destroy. But most importantly, Post-Reformation religion
Reformation--The roots of modernization
And I must say, this is not my opinion, but my professor's, and....I didn't quite agree with it initially,
The Reformation was an important event that enabled Europe to dominate the world. It led to the rise of Protestantism and the decline of the Catholic Church's dominance in many parts of Europe.During the period of the Reformation, although several religious wars broke out in various places, such as the German Peasants' War and French Wars of Religion, in general, it had a significant progressive effect on the Catholic areas of Western Europe.
The Reformation made religion to return to its original position, rather than crudely interfering in secular affairs, which is the so-called "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's"
Also, the emphasis on reading the Bible in one's native language spurred the translation of the Bible into various languages and promoted literacy and education.Unified German began with Martin Luther's translation of the Bible in 1534.
This shift had various political and economic consequences. For instance, countries that embraced Protestantism, such as England and the northern German states, often experienced increased political stability and economic growth. That was partly due to the weakening of the Catholic Church's influence, which allowed for more centralized and secular governance.
Therefore,It was the Reformation that weakened the power of Catholicism, leading to the rise of nation-states and more centralized political structures.
However, countries that remained staunchly Catholic, like Spain and Italy, even France, faced different challenges. Spain, for example, experienced economic difficulties and political decline in the centuries following the Reformation, partly due to its rigid adherence to Catholicism and the costs of maintaining its vast empire especially.
The Decadency of The Ottoman Empire
The Ottoman Empire was once the most powerful enemy in Europe, and even the number one enemy of Christendom before the Battle of Vienna. Then it inevitably declined after the 18th century.
On the one hand, the Ottoman Empire was the most enlightened and harmonious place at that time because it allowed its citizens to have different beliefs, while Europe was still fighting each other because of different beliefs. On the other hand, the Ottoman Empire was also the least enlightened place because only Muslims are the pillars and center of the empire, and other faiths are treated differently and discriminated against. The further back, the more serious the discrimination and unfairness become, until Christians in Europe no longer fight for their faith, but Christians are still discriminated against within the empire. Therefore, the empire faced internal social unrest and uprisings, which further destabilized the state.
It is obviously one-sided to simply blame its decadency on the fact that Islam failed to carry out corresponding reforms and thus could not be secularized, but it is obviously an important factor.Despite efforts to modernize, such as the Tanzimat reforms in the 19th century, the empire struggled to implement effective changes. The reforms were often met with resistance and were not enough to reverse the decline. The lack of religious reform resulted in extremely strong conservative forces, making it difficult to implement reforms, or unable to implement them thoroughly (it just like Muhammad Ali's reforms in Egypt).
And Chinese should be more sympathetic precisely because the traditional conservative forces are too strong that many reforms in Qing Dynasty cannot be implemented at all, making China lag behind the world.
