The Abyss of the Atlantic Chapter Ⅱ Section Ⅰ

This novel was written in 2018. I wrote it after watching the wonderful submarine movie "Das Boot". This novel is about giantessifying(personifying) a U-boat , similar to Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.What I have to say is that my novels often spend a lot of time describing the settings and characters...

I am working hard to translate it into English completely and without any grammatical errors.  If possible I will also translate it into German and Japanese

Similarly, since accurate manual translation will take up a lot of my time, it is only open to subscribers, please understand.

CHAPTER Ⅱ

July 6, 1942.

When the lieutenant saw the two members of the "expedition team" with "knightly adventurous spirit" return, it was already the afternoon of the next day. According to O‘Clair and Challe, they were so panicked that they sailed the ship to an Irish port.

The colonel hadn't recovered from this experience for an entire day, especially when he recalled the scene of encountering the bottomless pit, it was truly unbelievable.

"Lieutenant, you..." The journalist almost rushed into the lieutenant's office, "I... we... we..."

"What happened to you?" The lieutenant remained calm, "Please relax. Did you see the man-eating abyss and come back alive?"

The journalist kept nodding while taking the camera out of his pocket. "You would never guess what the bottomless pit actually is."

"Tell me that." The lieutenant asked with great interest.

The journalist took a deep breath, exhaled slowly, calmed down, and then slowly uttered five words.

"It was…a girl…huge one…"

"Don't doubt it, lieutenant! This is really not an ordinary girl," the journalist stammered, "She has deep blue eyes, silver hair, and most importantly, she is very huge, extremely huge! I think even the largest battleship could be easily lifted by her."

"Hmm..." The lieutenant nodded thoughtfully, "Is she also very strong, capable of destroying an entire fleet single-handedly?"

"Yes."

"Is she extremely huge, several hundred meters tall?"

"Exactly."

"Is she hideous and terrifying?"

"Not at all, she is clearly a teenage girl,I think…"

" War correspondent Challe..," the lieutenant sighed meaningfully, "It's a pity that you don't write novels with such a good imagination. Should I call you Science-Fiction-Writer Challe in the future? Or Science Fiction Movie Screenwriter Krishal, hmm?"

" Crois-moi!(Believe me!)" The journalist's emotions became slightly agitated, "Colonel O'Clair saw it too!"

The lieutenant's eyes showed a hint of sarcasm. "Really? Did he believe what you said?"

"He saw it with his own eyes!!With me!"

The two were at a stalemate. But it was obvious that the lieutenant would not believe the journalist's words no matter what.

"Yes, what Char B1 said is true…" The colonel lieutnant, who didn't know when he came in, said, "Lieutenant, this matter is very, very, very... strange…"

"You mean, it really is a giantessgirl? That kind of huge, terrifying girl? Swallowed the entire supply fleet alive?"

"Very likely." The colonel nodded, quite sure.

"That's really interesting..." The lieutenant frowned, his face serious, resting his head on the table, "Even I don't believe it, let alone others."

The journalist seemed to remember something, suddenly took out the camera, and handed it to the lieutenant.

"Lieutenant! This!!We took a lot of photos. You can believe in photos, right?" The journalist confidently took out the film and handed it to the lieutenant.

"Really? I'm quite interested. Let’s see?"

The lieutenant casually took it and looked at it carefully for a while, then couldn't help but laugh.

"How about it? Do you believe it now?"

"Well, not bad, the sea view is nice," the lieutenant looked at it over and over again, "But I didn't see any giantessgirl, or any sea monster like Clark, I only saw the sea surface and the obviously exposed sunlight."

The journalist's face turned pale instantly, hurriedly took back the film and carefully observed it.

"How could it be... not captured?" He took back the film handed by the lieutenant, carefully examined every detail, and indeed found no trace of the girl.

"Impossible!" The colonel exclaimed beside the bewildered journalist, "How could nothing be captured? Even someone like me who knows nothing about photography could capture it, right? This target is an extraordinary giant."

The journalist shook his head, indicating that he didn't know what was going on.

"Could it be that she can't be photographed? Is she invisible?" The journalist thought hard and came to such a conclusion.

"I don't think so..." The colonel shook his head, "Maybe it's some kind of omen or sign."

" Trop de mystères,(Too many mysteries)," the journalist sighed, "If there were photos as evidence, at least someone would believe it, but now..."

"Well..." The colonel nodded with a sense of loss, "Without direct evidence, even I don't believe that there is such a terrifying thing in the sea... To be honest, if I were the audience, I would never believe that there is a girl several hundred meters tall in the sea. Do you believe it?"

The journalist glanced out the window and shook his head in disappointment.

"The question is, who is that girl? Why is she there? When did she get there? Or rather, how did she get there?" The colonel continued, "This can be said to be... although this world is mysterious enough, I think this is the only thing that has no answer."

The lieutenant nodded in confusion, seemingly starting to believe what they said. After all, it's impossible to make up such a long story. Rather than saying it's impossible, it's better to believe it.

The three of them couldn't come up with any answers. This is not something that can be figured out in the office in a short time.

A strange silence descended on the three of them again.

“Well, forget it, you two go back camp first. I have to report this to my superiors,” the lieutenant waved his hand and said to the two people at the door. “I also want to see with my own eyes if what you said is true, but I have to stay in the office on duty. And others probably won’t believe what you two said either.huh……”

The colonel’s helpless look confirmed his words.

“Then I’ll go back and rest first. It’s been exhausting these past few days…” The journalist greeted them, following the fine tradition of the French, and went home first.

The colonel shrugged and shook his head, seemingly unable to find any other words to describe his feelings at the moment.

“Lieutenant,” the colonel began, “I know everything we just said is very unbelievable, but indeed…”

“I know it, I know…” the lieutenant waved his hand again, “but without concrete evidence, even if I believe it, the superiors, the media, and the public won’t, and it won’t change anything. Whether it’s a giantess girl, a sea monster, or a German super submarine, it has already seriously threatened the Atlantic supply line that the British Empire relies on for survival, so I fully support getting to the bottom of it, but…”

The lieutenant paused and continued:

“It’s really hard for me to believe that something obstructing such an important lifeline could be a girl…”

“A nearly 500-meter-tall girl,” the colonel added, “maybe even bigger, because she only showed less than half of her body.”

“Where did she come from? Did the Germans make her? But even if the Germans made her, our intelligence agencies couldn’t possibly miss something so huge…”

“Maybe it’s, um… Lord’s creation.”

The lieutenant smiled.

“Do you believe in Lord, Colonel O’Clair?”

“uh…that’s hard to say..My father resolutely retired after World War I and became a very devout Catholic, so devout that it’s hard to believe he was once a pure atheist. I was somewhat influenced by him.”

“Your father was?..”

“A navy captain, he fought in the Atlantic while 1918 and was also a destroyer captain.”

“Interesting, you truly followed in your father’s footsteps. Your father must have been very proud to you.”

The colonel coughed awkwardly.

“Maybe not quite as you imagined.”

“Oh, is that so?”

The lieutenant felt he might have said too much and decided to end the conversation early.

“It’s getting late, I should go back too,” the colonel walked out the door, preparing to close it behind him, “If there’s any new information, please let me know. But honestly… I don’t really want to go back.”

“That’s understandable, I completely understand your feelings.”

“Thank you.”

The colonel closed the door, leaving the lieutenant alone in thought...
