What, Failure to Transition!? Volume 6 Chapter 6

ㅤ
When he first met Misato, Yoichi was curious as to why she was working as a prostitute, so he tried to look into her past.
The key word was “tried”, but in the end, he didn’t.
If he had looked into her past, he would have found out about the existence of Fumiya Hoshikawa, who claimed to be her brother.
And if he had done so, this whole thing might have been avoided.
Yoichi regretted it a little but quickly changed his mind.
Because he was afraid.
He was afraid that if he ever discovered her past, without her consent or anything else, then the relationship he had built up with her would fall apart.
He wants to keep that trust.
Even now.
So in the end, Yoichi still hasn’t seen or read about Misato’s past.
Even more so in the current situation, where Misato’s revulsion towards Fumiya and her words “Save me” was enough to declare them enemies.
But for Hoshikawa Fumiya, Seba – whose last name is Suekichi – and Yoshida Makoto, he read their past without mercy.
Of course, when it came to Fumiya and Seba, he still filtered out everything that had to do with Misato.
Even now, he was not inclined to expose Misato’s past more than necessary.
Hoshikawa Fumiya was scum to say the least.
He was a good student, good at sports, good-looking, and a good worker, but as a human being he was a scumbag.
He lacked ethics in a way that Yoichi could never understand, especially when he discovered that he had created a system during his time at university where he ruined many women’s lives by founding a sex circle, with the number of victims increasing even after he had long graduated.
The man who is helping Fumiya, Suekichi Seba, is in the same league.
He was competent in his work and never did anything personally for fear of being discovered.
However, despite his cautious nature, instead of admonishing his friend when he goes too far, he has the attitude of cooperating with him when he is pressured, even if he knows it will lead to dire consequences.
Perhaps it was because his loyalty to Fumiya was too great, but whatever the reason, he was not a commendable person to Yoichi.
Especially in South America, where Yoichi found out that the man was involved in some pretty sinister things. And although he was hesitant to do anything that might tarnish the name of the Hoshikawa Group if uncovered, he still cooperated with Fumiya’s deeds through and through.
His only advantage is that he is a bit more ethical than Fumiya.
Though it was all irrelevant as in the end, he is willing to do anything to save his hide.
“Still, I never knew that he was one of those brats back then. What kind of coincidence is that?”
When he looked through Yoshida Makoto’s records, he found out that he was one of the notorious university students who had been after him before, and he was very surprised.
Moreover, he was the cause of Misato’s abduction, so he couldn’t help but wonder that people with bad karma were so close to each other, as if they lived in a smaller world than he did.
(But this man, he also benefited from the sex circle created by Fumiya, and has done some terrible things beyond that, so there’s no need to show him any mercy now that he’s my enemy.)
“Anyway, let’s use [Return]… damn it, of all times!”
Yoichi tried to use [Return+] to move to the town in the south as quickly as possible, but then he remembered that he had replaced that home point one time with one in the casino city.
Since he had found a better place to obtain weapons and funds, he had decided that the home point at the town in the south was unnecessary, but had he been too hasty?
Karin gently leaned over to the frustrated Yoichi.
“Yoichi, calm down. There’s no need to be in a hurry. How about we sit down to cool your head first?”
“Kuh… but…!”
“Also, explain the situation to me and Alana. We’re a party, remember?”
“That’s right, Mister Yoichi. We are just as worried about Misato as you are.”
“You’re right. I guess I can’t just rush off all by myself. Thank you, Karin and Alana.”
No matter how good your skills are, it is impossible for you to foresee the future unless you are a god-like being.
Yoichi’s change of residence was also a sensible decision at that time.
After he had sat down on the sofa at Karin’s urging and calmed down a bit, Yoichi quickly explained the situation to them.
“I see. In other words, for Mister Yoichi, using his abilities to see his opponent’s past is the same as attacking an opponent. Well, for me, I have no problem either way, even if Mister Yoichi finds out my background. After all, one can never be safe from harm, so we must use every means possible to stay safe, especially when we have companions and land to protect”.
This was Alana’s answer to Yoichi, who, after explaining the situation, regretted that he should have looked into Misato’s past sooner to prevent this from happening.
It was as expected from an adventurer and the daughter of a feudal lord.
“Well, I don’t know. I also have… some things I don’t want people to know too much about, so I think Yoichi’s choice is acceptable.”
Meanwhile, Karin blushed a little and slumped down, remembering something she didn’t want to recall.
“But Alana is right. I wasn’t really aware of it myself, but there’s nothing more important than being safe from danger.”
Still, it was something that had already happened, so Yoichi couldn’t remove his regret.
At this, Karin gave a sigh.
“Look. I know it’s tempting to think that if you had done something at the time, you could have avoided the evil that happened later, but there’s no point in wallowing in it now. You know that, don’t you?”
“Yes. I know.”
Yes.
There’s no point in regretting your mistakes now.
No, there is no need to regret at all.
“It’s still not too late.”
And so Yoichi asked his [Appraisal+] what he should do from that point on and how he could save Misato in the shortest possible time.
“Let’s see. First, call this number… I’ve never seen this number before”.
The first suggestion from [Appraisal+] was to call the number given.
From the sequence of numbers, it was probably an international call, but it was a number that Yoichi had never called or received in the past.
However, Yoichi did have a number of acquaintances abroad.
So he had an idea who the number belonged to.
[How did you find this number?]
After receiving the call, his hunch was right. The person who answered was Charlotte, a former intelligence officer and current casino employee.
“I knew it was you, Charlotte. I’m sorry, but I need your help. Misato has been kidnapped.”
[Big sister was…?]
“Big sister?”
[Mm, ahem… it was nothing.]
After a coughing fit, Charlotte returned to her tone and asked the question again.
[Would you care to explain the situation?]
Yoichi abbreviated the circumstances to a certain extent and gave Charlotte as much information as possible about his current location and the situation with Misato, as well as information about the facility.
[I’m sending you a map now. Please go there and tell them these phrases].
Charlotte hung up as soon as she had given what appeared to be a password.
Shortly afterward, he received a URL with web map coordinates.
“Isn’t this a US military base?”
Yes. It was one of the US military bases in Japan.
But he didn’t have time to think about the details, so he [appraised] the fastest way to get to the destination.
“Karin, Alana, my bad. I’ll pick you up later. Please wait here for a while.”
“Okay.”
“Aight.”
When the situation was explained, the two, who now had complete trust in Yoichi, nodded their heads without any particular complaints.
〇●〇●
“For now, let’s get the bike out first.”
After leaving the flat, Yoichi followed the instructions of [Appraisal+] and took the dirt bike out of [Infinite Storage +] when it was no longer crowded.
The bike, which had been kept in top condition by the effect of his skill, began to rev with a slight engine noise.
“Damn! This traffic light…”
The bike ran smoothly while following [Appraisal+]’s instructions, but as soon as it reached an intersection, it was stopped at a traffic light.
“It’s not a good idea to beat the red light now, hmmm…? Turn in front of you?”
Yoichi drove on, and after taking the main roads, mainly national highways and bypasses, the vehicle suddenly turned onto a narrow road and plunged into an intricate residential area.
“Oh, come on, you want me to go over 60km/h here?”
His [Appraisal+] was telling him to drive just above the speed limit through what seemed to be densely populated residential areas, one where you never know when people or cars might come out of side streets or houses.
It’s not illegal because there’s no posted speed limit, but it’s an incredible speed when you think about it in terms of common sense.
(I’ll have to trust the [Appraisal+] now.)
…
……
“Phew! Finally arrived…”
At last, Yoichi exclaimed, as he went over a trip where it only took 15 minutes to get to his destination when it would have taken 30.
He dismounted and stowed his bike a short distance from the base entrance.
Then he ran as fast as he could to the entrance and spoke to a soldier who seemed to be in charge of security.
“Dolly’s ready to run an errand. I need you to take me to Hangar 18.”
“‘Ou. I hear you.”
The African-American stalwart of a man chuckled as Yoichi gave him the passphrase. Then he gestured with his chin for him to come over.
“You’re in a hurry, aren’t you? I’ll fly you there!”
The soldier leads him to a car, and they speed through the base.
Looking out from the speeding car, he sees several runways and hangars set up in an area large enough to see the horizon, as well as fighter jets lined up beside them.
There are no tanks in sight, perhaps because this is the Navy’s airfield?[1]
Besides the one Yoichi is driving, there are several other military vehicles on the road, but neither of them is going as fast as his.
“I heard you want to go to a town in the south at Mach speed, isn’t that right?”
The soldier in the driver’s seat speaks cheerfully to Yoichi, who is looking out of the window.
“Yes, sir. And as soon as possible.”
“Hehe, since Dolly is the one asking, I’ll take care of it.”
Dolly is probably Charlotte’s name here.
Incidentally, there is no Hangar 18 on this base.
“All right, here we are.”
“Wait, wait, wait. By “Mach” speed, you mean… literally?”
In less than two minutes, they reached the hangar where the fighter jets were already on standby.
Several staff members gathered around Yoichi as he got out of the car and looked up at the fighter plane in amazement. And in no time at all, he was fitted with special equipment and found himself sitting in the back seat of the cockpit.
[I’m sorry, but she said, “I don’t care if he dies in the process; just deliver him as fast as you can. Let’s get going.]
“Hey…”
But before he could answer the pilot’s voice over the intercom, the fighter jet took off.
“Guooooooooohh…”
An incredible amount of G Force was applied to Yoichi’s entire body, and his consciousness flickered out.
However, thanks to his [Healthy Body+], Yoichi did not lose consciousness and held on until the fighter reached its maximum speed.
[Oh, you’re okay after all that? You have the qualities of a fighter pilot.]
“T-Thank you.”
The aircraft was flying at a very high altitude, and although he could not see the landscape, he could see that the clouds were moving at a very high speed.
(Oh, I’m really flying now, aren’t I?)
In the narrow field of vision through the visor of his helmet and the canopy of the cockpit, all he could see was the sky and the clouds.
“Hey, have you calmed down a bit?”
“Y-yeah. I think so.”
The pilot’s question came over the intercom, to which Yoichi replied emphatically.
[I’d love to do some acrobatics if it was the usual day, but we’re in a hurry, so we’ll try it next time.]
“Aha, ahahaha…”
The pilot looked deeply disappointed, to which Yoichi replied with a friendly smile.
Unfortunately for Yoichi, that wasn’t the end of it.
“But, well, there are still some other tricks I can do if I’m in a hurry. So hold on tight!”
The pilot’s good mood changed the vibe drastically, and Yoichi suddenly felt uneasy.
“Well, I don’t really care about some performance, but if possible, safety first…”
“Ha-ha! Come on, don’t be shy. Besides, you’re in a hurry, aren’t you?”
“That is, well…”
“Then you can’t miss this one. I can only use it on take-off, but I can also use it again if I calculate the distance we’re in.”
“Um, and this one is…?”
“The afterburners.”
The next moment, Yoichi felt Gs on his body as he thought he heard an explosion behind him.
“Guooooooooooooooooo…!!!!”
“Yeeeeeehaaawwwww!!! Hyahahaha!!”
The fighter accelerated rapidly, but the acceleration did not last forever.
Afterburners spray fuel into the engine’s exhaust to burn it and generate high thrust, but this is not a technique that can be used many times as it consumes an unusually high amount of fuel.
Usually used for take-offs, afterburners are also used in combat to rapidly accelerate and disorientate the enemy.
But even though they were only accelerated for a fraction of a time since they were flying straight, they were able to maintain most of their speed, thus shortening the distance and, thus, the time of Yoichi’s journey.
This meant that the flight, which would have taken more than an hour and a half in a jet and two to three hours if boarding procedures were taken into account, would be over in less than an hour.
“Oi, wait a minute. We’re just going to land in the city?”
[Don’t worry. There’s an Air Self-Defence Force runway at the airport. And this is an Air Self-Defence Force fighter.]
“Really?”
The fact that an Air Self-Defence Force fighter jet was taking off from a US military base and being flown by a US military pilot might be an international problem, but Yoichi decided not to think too much about it. For now.
“Good work!”
A young Japanese man in full camouflage uniform greeted Yoichi as he disembarked from the fighter and took off his special equipment.
Yoichi was then put into a car and driven to the airport exit.
“Um, I’m not really sure what’s going on, but I was told that you should call her back when you get into the building.”
The guide then handed Yoichi a smartphone, a wireless in-ear headset, and a small toolbox.
“Oh, and they also asked that you keep the headset connected to your own phone.”
“Understood. Thank you.”
“Ah, you’re welcome. Well, good luck, whatever you are doing.”
The young man in camouflage went straight back into the airport after dropping Yoichi off outside.
From there, he got back on his motorcycle and rode through the southern town.
There, he entered the motorway from the entrance near the airport and drove the bike at full throttle.
As the bike sped along, weaving between not so many cars, Yoichi felt the wind blowing pleasantly against his body.
“So this is where I get off?”
Following [Appraisal+]’s navigation system as usual, Yoichi left the motorway and rode through the town, weaving between buildings and entering a residential area to avoid traffic lights.
After that, Yoichi continued to take shortcuts on his motorcycle and arrived at Hoshikawa Group Head Office Building 2 about five minutes after leaving the airport.
“I’ve arrived.”
[Roger. Now, would you please leave the line open as you enter the building? Shall I guide you around?]
“No need. I’m fine.”
After reaching the building, Yoichi called Charlotte as he was told, then he entered the premises and followed the instructions in the [Appraisal+].
“Turn right here… hmm? Hold up my pass?”
[Ah. The smartphone we gave you will be your pass].
When Yoichi held the smartphone he had just received over the card reader, the closed door opened automatically.
“Ooh.”
After that, by following the instructions given by [Appraisal+], he was able to reach the President’s office without meeting anyone.
[Now, please connect your smartphone to the elevator control panel.]
[What? How?]
[First, you will need to take the screwdriver set from the toolbox we gave you, open the lid, and pull out the wiring we specified].
“Uweee, seriously?”
“If you know the 16-digit passcode, you can connect via Wi-Fi, but that’s not――”
“Is that so? Wait a minute.”
Yoichi used [Appraisal+] to determine the passcode and pressed the numeric keypad.
“Alright, I’m in. What’s next?”
“No way… you’re really connected… Now please wait a bit… about five minutes.”
The elevator was secured by a passcode and palm vein authentication, a dual security system.
The passcode could be managed with [Appraisal+], but not the vein authentication, so it was left to Charlotte’s side.
“Hello.”
“Welcome back.”
“Hm.”
In the meantime, he left behind the smartphone and the headset and used this waiting time to pick up Karin and Alana.
Needless to say, he had already set a home point for the President’s office.
After returning to the President’s office with [Return+], Yoichi put the headset back into his ear and picked up the smartphone.
After a while…
[Thank you for waiting.]
–Goong, with a low noise, the elevator begins to move.
[Now, about Big Si-ehem…! About Misato, I’ll leave it to you, big brother.]
“Ou. Just leave it to your big brother.”
“Hmph!”
With a final, embarrassed hmph, Charlotte hung up the phone.
Soon, the lift reached the top floor, and the doors opened.
“Shall we go?”
“Yes. Let’s save Misato.”
“‘Umu. Let’s punish the bad boy.”
The three then stepped into the elevator.
〇●〇●
“Damn. This lift is so slow.”
Yoichi muttered, though it was only seconds after he and the women had entered the elevator.
To this, a hand was gently placed on each of Yoichi’s irritated shoulders.
“Don’t rush. It’s still not too late, is it?”
“Yes, yes. Let’s just think of it as giving us some time to calm our minds.”
Yoichi was not happy to learn through [Appraisal+] that Misato was about to be assaulted, but he had already confirmed that Fumiya had moved away from his stepsister to intercept them when the elevator started moving.
He wanted to help her as soon as possible, but here, the right thing to do was as they say. Calm down and take your time.
After a few deep breaths, feeling the warmth that was gently transferred from the shoulders, the elevator finally slowed down and stopped shortly afterward.
“Alright. There are three men with guns on the other side of the door, so be careful. The rest is as planned.”
Karin and Alana nodded silently at Yoichi’s words.
When the elevator doors opened, they found themselves in a luxurious room that rivaled the suites in the casino city they had just visited.
And as had been confirmed and communicated to Alana and Karin earlier, they saw three men holding guns.
“How you got here is still a question, but I commend you for getting this far, Yoichi.”
Fumiya points his gun at Yoichi and smiles triumphantly.
“But we’ll have to ask the intruders to leave as soon as possible.”
Ignoring Fumiya’s smugness, Yoichi looked around the room and spotted Misato.
When their eyes met, Yoichi gave her a strong-willed look of reassurance and nodded silently.
Behind him, Karin and Alana were also looking lightly at her, and Misato nodded back at the three of them with a generous smile.
Misato’s face and the visible parts of her body showed no wounds or bruises, but although she seemed unharmed, Yoichi knew that she had been hurt before this.
“Hey, don’t ignore me… guhh…!”
Almost at the same time as Fumiya, who is frustrated that the other party had not given him a second thought, expressed his dissatisfaction, Yoichi glared at the owner of the voice.
Fumiya involuntarily gasped at the sharp, hostile look directed at him and backed away slightly.
“Now then. I think someone here needs to be punished for being a bad little brother. Don’t you agree, Misato?”
“Yes. But this little brother is already out of my control, so I’ll leave him to you, Yoichi.”
“Punish… bad, you say…”
The carefree conversation was very out of the blue, and Fumiya, seeing this, was unable to speak properly, his face turning red and his mouth agape.
“Oi, oi, old man!”
In the midst of this, Makoto, who was holding a semi-automatic pistol, opened his mouth.
“Do you have any idea what’s going on here? Well, threatening someone is not really my forte, but how about you just leave those two silver- and brown-haired ladies behind and go home? I may even turn a blind eye to you.”
Makoto then showed off the weapon by tapping the barrel with his left hand and pointing the muzzle back at Yoichi in an amateurish stance.
“Damn kids these days…”
Yoichi was dazed for a moment as he scratched his head in bewilderment, then looked up and glared at Makoto.
“They paid your tuition fees, living expenses, and everything else so that you could attend a private university, and now you wasted it all, having just been expelled from it. Aren’t you being extremely unfilial, Yoshida Makoto?”
“Wha… you… how…”
“You don’t want to see your mother crying at home? Then maybe you’d better get out of here.”
“Guh… s-shut up! I already got my job through Fumiya’s influence, so I don’t need that diploma anymore! That university can go to shit!”
“Hmmm, influence, eh. By the way, I have a question for you.”
Yoichi stopped talking after that and looked at Fumiya, Makoto, and Seba as if he were trying to be more helpful.
“What are you going to do with those toys?”
At these words, Fumiya’s eyes widened in disbelief, and he smiled contemptuously.
“Ha-ha-ha! A toy? You mean this is a toy? Ha-ha-ha-ha!
Fumiya continued to laugh for a while as if he wanted to get rid of the fact that he had choked on his words earlier, before giving Yoichi a contemptuous look with tears in the corners of his eyes.
“Well, maybe the peaceful Japanese can’t tell the difference between a real thing and a toy, but――”
――BANG! BANG!
“Hiii!!”
Makoto lets out a short scream and shrinks back at the sound of the gunshot that suddenly echoes through the room.
The bullet from Fumiya’s pistol pierced the thick carpet on the floor and gouged a little into the concrete underneath.
Yoichi, who knew from the start that it was a warning shot, did not react, and Fumiya was a little unhappy about that but decided to believe that he was just too surprised to respond.
“What part of this is a toy, I wonder?”
Before Fumiya could finish, Yoichi took out a minigun – a small version of the Gatling gun – in a tripod position from the [Infinite Storage+] and fired it at an empty wall.
――BRRRRRRRRRRRRRT!!
The magazine box, which had been preloaded with only 1,000 rounds, emptied itself in about 20 seconds, but in that short amount of time, the furniture in the line of fire was mercilessly smashed, and the concrete wall was gurgled and scraped.
As the revolving barrel began to spin, Yoichi removed his hand from the trigger and looked back at Fumiya and the other three.
“I’ll ask you once more. What do you intend to do with those toys?”
Fumiya froze, along with his smile.
“Fueeee…”
In the meantime. Makoto collapsed with a pitiful voice and slowly wet his crotch.
In the middle of all this――
――BANG!
Another heavy gunshot echoed through the room.
It was a bullet fired from Seba’s pistol, who quickly recovered.
After seeing the vicious killing weapon, Seba fired at Yoichi’s head to finish him off with a single shot, as if he thought it would be unbearable if it was aimed at him or Fumiya.
The bullet that Seba fired flew right to the target, probably as a result of the training he had secretly received in South America, but Yoichi twisted his body and dodged it almost as soon as the shot rang out.
“Wha…?”
Yes, the act of dodging bullets is no longer impossible for Yoichi, who can use [Appraisal+] to grasp thoughts in real time and predict how the shots fired from the muzzle will fly in.
[Your ability alone makes you a top-notch predictor. Then I just need to make sure your body can keep up with it.]
Remembering Celestin’s words and the hellish training that followed, Yoichi can’t help but crack a wry smile.
Seba, mistaking it for a sneer, continued and pulled the trigger several times.
――BANG! BANG! BANG…!!
But they were all deflected in vain.
(Compared to the Guildmaster’s attacks, this is nothing!)
Compared to the ever-changing attacks he knew were coming and yet couldn’t dodge, bullets that just fly straight at him are so much easier to avoid.
The wry smile that unintentionally broke out eventually turned into a smile of composure, and Yoichi walked towards Seba with ease.
――CLICK, CLICK, CLICK
“Kuh…!”
After pulling the trigger of his pistol several times, Seba quickly ran out of bullets.
Yoichi didn’t waste the chance and ran towards the man.
Before he knew it, he was brandishing a knife and swinging his arm wide.
Seba quickly parried the blow with his pistol.
“Gyaaaaahh!!”
But on the next, Seba’s scream echoed, along with a dull thud.
From his eyes, it was a knife attack from a man of not-so-good physique.
He had planned to catch it easily and somehow manage to shrug it off and regain his stance, but the attack was much heavier than he had expected, and immediately after the blade touched the barrel, it dislocated his wrist and bent his finger, which was still on the trigger, in a snarl.
“Oraaaaah!”
Yoichi launched a roundhouse kick at Seba’s head, who had also knelt on his knee from the impact and pain.
“Guuh…!!”
Seba was hit in the side of the head with a Celestin-style roundhouse kick, and he grunted briefly before losing consciousness.
“Hiiiiee… don’t come at me!”
Fumiya backed away as Yoichi glared at him after finishing off Seba.
Then he pointed the pistol in his hand in the direction of where Misato had been.
“Don’t move! If you move any further, Sis will… eh?”
As he pointed the muzzle of the gun and continued to turn his face in that direction, Fumiya noticed that Misato, who had been there a moment ago, was no longer there.
“Don’t expect a woman to always follow your commands like some kind of doll.”
Karin and Alana, as soon as Yoichi had pulled out the minigun and everyone’s attention had turned their way, took Misato behind the bar counter to make sure she was safe.
And while Misato was in Karin’s custody and Yoichi was dealing with Seba, Alana had gone behind Fumiya’s back.
“Hyaa…!”
Fumiya suddenly heard a voice behind him and tried to turn around, but before he could see the owner of the voice, he was hit by a hand to the back of the head, and his consciousness was cut off.
“One more left…”
After confirming that Alana had finished off Fumiya, Yoichi looked at Makoto.
“Abababababa…”
But before he could do anything, maybe the power of the minigun was so shocking, apart from the loss of his bowels, Makoto fainted, his eyes white and his mouth bubbling at the edges of his lips.
“Hmm. He’s still alive… that aside… Misato!”
“Look, you’ve been called!”
Perhaps Yoichi’s call wasn’t enough, Karin gives her a light nudge on the back, and soon Misato’s head slowly emerges from behind the bar top.
When his eyes meet Misato’s, Yoichi opens his arms to her and smiles.
“I’ve come to pick you up.”
“Yoichi!”
Only then does Misato jump over the bar counter and run to Yoichi and hug him.
“I’m sorry I’m late.”
“It doesn’t matter. I thought you would come anyway.”
Misato said she seemed unconcerned, but still, she was probably not without fear.
Yoichi held Misato’s body tightly as she shivered slightly and buried her face in his chest.
And as he held her slender body against his chest, Yoichi realized that his heart was beating abnormally fast.
Not because of the joy of reunion, but because of the fear of what would happen if they could not meet again.
The fear that came from the thought of that made Yoichi’s emotions darken.
Since he had been acting frantically until the rescue, he had not had time to think about it deeply, but it is quite possible that if he had been a little later, he would have been able to rescue her, but only after she had been raped by Fumiya.
[I don’t want to be touched by other men anymore. Please. I beg you. I’ll do anything.]
When she was reunited with Misato, who had once left her, she said these lines and held on to Yoichi.
Now, she had just been kidnapped and held captive by the person she probably did not want to see the most.
How terrifying that must have been?
(I’ll never let go of her again!)
After realizing how terrible it was for him to lose Misato, who had become his most precious before he knew it, Yoichi tightened his arms around her even more.
Misato responded by clinging tightly to him.
“Me too. I will never leave you again.”
Misato said in a small but strong voice as if she had read Yoichi’s thoughts.
Meanwhile, Karin and Alana watched them from a distance, both smiling calmly.
Translator Notes:
[1]. I did some googling on the US military bases in Japan, and as far as I can tell, there are two naval air bases that Yoichi could have gone to. One is the Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni and the other is the Atsugi Naval Air Facility. But since Iwakuni is in the south of Japan and Atsugi is near Tokyo, which is a bit in the centre, and since Atsugi has hangars in the Google search, there is only one answer that fits the description – Atsugi. I might be wrong though.↰
Here are the list of US Bases in Japan:

U.S. Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni

Naval Air Facility Atsugi
