In my 50s I got back into cycling and built up to regularly riding metric centuries (100 km / 62 miles) and I did complete one american century (100 miles). The most notable was a charity ride for the ADA (diabetes assn). Nashville TN USA in June. Think riding in a sauna. If you use Strava, it was the only time I ever saw a suffer score of "epic". Recorded temp by my Garmin was 105F, avg HR 165 over 4.5 hrs. Retired now, but worked for FAA for 23.5 yrs, then another 18 yrs supporting ATC as a contractor. The pre-9/11 SF171 program (jumpseat access for controllers) was always educational and I used it a good bit. Mostly in MD80's. Only a few B737 and one airbus. So, content like this episode is really appreciated!
