How I made my latex Star Trek dress

Hey all!

I just wanted to show you in detail how I made this happen -

I started of by measuring myself and drafted it out on paper. I wanted it to fit me tightly and I find more seams the better! For that couture fit. There was about 13 different pieces to join together! I made sure I label each one so I didn't get confused. kind of look like a banana peel at this stage!

Spending time gluing the separate pieces together, I even did a line from collar to arm pit like the real version.

Installing the zip is done before joining front to back. Here I made sure zip is secure with strips of latex to the zip and even little patches at the bottom of zip.

Once they are glued together, now is the job of gluing front top to back top.

We are on to something now, gluing the sleeves in! Now before that I glued two parts of sleeve together, I find haven't an extra seam on the arm helps it fit better.

Using the cellotape trick for curved seams to help get an even look without bumps.

On to emblem now, I drew up a design and carefully cut it out of latex.

Also to add here, I cut out small latex discs for under armpits to reinforce it.

Clean off any pen marks and making sure it's completely clean off from glue after rolling it sealed. And woo hoo! That's one cosplay done and ready for comic con! I did this a weekend before and hoped it worked and it did :) had a great response at comic con. Thanks again for making this happen!
