Gamer Rage and Learning Lessons from 2021 for 2026 (Die Shrink Telegrams)

Over the past couple of weeks there has been an immense amount of discussion online regarding recent RAM Shortages, the annoyingly cyclical nature of the DIY parts market, and what 2026 will look like for gamers...and frankly, a lot of it has been unproductive and misinformed...

So, let's talk about it! This episode will look back on the 2020-2022 shortages, look forward towards what we expect in 2026, and highlight where we believe tech enthusiasts are likely to be mistaken...and where they haven't learned any lessons from the past! Feel free to submit below regarding anything having to do with shortages, misconceptions about manufacturing and this market, and concerns about shopping in 2026!

You have ~3 hours to submit! (Sorry AGAIN for the short notice)

Hey tom, a bit of a side question, but I saw YouTube added a summarize button in the comment section. Which seems fairly effective including time stamps. What are your thoughts on this as a content creator?

Tech enthusiasts live in bubble and think this 1% bubble is bigger than it is. Most pc gaming is by "casual gamers" who are not interested in specs or even software that much. Second big one is how much is underestimated by everyone that datacenters, corporations, universities with their real life needs buy hardware and factor in gaming stuff is way way cheaper (as Karbin reminded yesterday). With AI craze this has only escalated. Most of all this helps to push R&D forward that is risky and expensive.
