Hi, Tom If you've seen the interview (if not link with timestamp is attached) of an Arch Linux dev following the Valve sponsorship saying that the donation from Valve regarded support for different CPU Architectures like arm64 and riscv64, but mainly arm64 and he explicitly tells that Valve is interested in ARM. Also you leaked info about AMD's Sound Wave which is a ARM based APU. Now Valve is preparing to launch their arm64 hybrid gaming VR Headset. And we can not forget the recent donation (hiring contractors) to work for the FEX-Emu project which is a lightweight program that allows running x86-64 software on ARM64 CPUs including games which is demonstrated by the YouTube channel of the project. So, after connecting the dots my question is: Do you think that Steam Deck 2 could have an AMD manufactured ARM64 based APU, which would provide the necessary leap in performance per hour? Here is the link with the time stamp https://youtu.be/zB62zhzGV1A?si=3AYhvuW9qfyC-6tK&t=441

2025-10-10 07:49:46 +0000 UTCHi Dustin and Tom, I’m curious how you are choosing where to buy your games in terms of platform. I’ve been a pretty loyal PlayStation fan for about 25 years now, but I find myself drawn to the Steam Deck and PC given the upper limits of where performance can go, especially when I consider how modern games may play on the Steam Deck 2 and older games will age well performance-wise. PlayStation has the edge in convenience of a simple UI and Tv connection (not to mention CEC), and the compatibility on the upcoming handheld should be superb, but I can’t help but think how console games are locked to their settings with few options. I still prefer to game on the couch or handheld vs at a desk, but the back catalog performance that always improves with your hardware is so enticing. How do you pick where to play, and do you think this will change in the future as we see the next PlayStation handheld and Steam Deck 2? Thanks, Matt Kuryloski
