The macrowave video turned out to be more popular than I expected! It seemed like a project that I was just doing for my own entertainment, but I’m glad to see so many others found it interesting as well. Building it was easy and filming went quickly, although assembling all the footage into a coherent video ended up pretty time consuming. Either way, there will be more microwave themed content in the future.

I’ve been wanting to do more exploration of the overlap of chemistry and electric plasmas for a while, and the macrowave ended up doing this way better that I would have guessed when it came to exciting elemental plasmas. There’s still much more I want to do in this area though. In particular, I’ve long had an interest in metal vapor lasers, but never felt confident that I could make this topic interesting to a wide audience. Recently though, I had the video idea of “turning a penny into a laser” which seems like something that could work on youtube. A video like this would allow me to play with all sorts of beautiful copper chemistry, followed by blasting those copper compounds with a hellacious high voltage circuit in order to make a laser. I have a LOT to learn about vacuum systems and glasswork if I want to go down this road, but it’s probably my best option on combining chemistry, lasers, and high voltage, since the same general idea can be applied to elements other than copper as well. Idk if this will be my next video, but I'm going to start diving into vacuum systems so I can eventually accomplish these topics.

In the meantime, there will be another shortish video from me soon. I filmed it a couple weeks ago but haven’t gotten around to editing it. I don’t know what I’ll do with it though because it’ll probably be like 10 minutes long and it’s not something I’d post on my main channel. Maybe I’ll repurpose my shorts channel as a generalized second channel since that channel is sorta worthless to me at this point. Idk but I’ll let you know soon lol.

Stay tuned!

WE LOVE VIDEOS WITH FIRE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

Dr. Pyro

that was pretty much the only time i've ever had engagement on twitter lol

14 minutes of average watch time is actually very high for a youtube video. personally I rarely spend more than 5 minutes watching a single YT vid

A metal vapor laser video would be awesome in my book. I am not sure if iron oxide vapors could be turned into a laser but another youtube tag angle could be "using rust to create a laser to clean off rust" or something like that, since those laser welder/metal cleaner videos have been so popular over the last year (though I'm betting copper will be much more visibly interesting). Also definitely stoked for more macrowave experiments!

🔥

Usually, most people who drop off do it in the first 20-30 seconds. The rest are much more likely to finish the video. When averaged, this looks like about half of the video is being watched.

Mikhi6

I legitimately can’t understand someone who stops after 14 minutes

Adam Reynolds

Ready for more! I have read about gas and chemical lasers but not much byond simple articles so it would be an eductional experience for sure to see you go in that direction.

Mate - anything you do will be popular 😎 you let us all believe we can be mad scientific engineers

Mr B Shepherd

1. The excellent thumbnail definitely helped. 2. That was quite coherent. I look forward to what you do next.

Hyperballad Eyes

That's great! That last video definitely deserved the love it's getting. Can't wait for more Macrowave shenanigans.

David Noireaut

Also saw you responding to some of the Horny Posting about it on Twitter which definitely made me laugh

Explosions&Fire

Hell yeah mate, saw it basically hit 1M views in the first day! Great video, deserved

Explosions&Fire

I was pretty sure this one would be a hit.
