updates

It's been a while since I've given you guys updates so here's some news! In my next video, I'm going to connect 100 car batteries in parallel and do a bunch of experiments with huge currents. This includes melting stuff, making big magnetic fields, and also attempting a big carbon arc lamp. Now this wasn't my idea, it's actually a crazy sponsorship unlike anything I've done before. The company AnyDesk literally just wants to see what crazy stuff I can pull off with a huge bank of car batteries. I'm still waiting on some parts to arrive before I can assemble the bank, but this video should be a lot of fun to shoot.

In the meantime, I've done a substantial amount of planting. I'm a pretty hardcore gardener with a preference for perennial plants, and since these take years to become mature, I've really been itching to plant a bunch of stuff here. Last year I was too busy working on the lab to do much in the way of planting, but I've dug in a whole orchard this spring as well as a bunch of other interesting trees and plants. Honestly I could spend the rest of my life gardening every day and be satisfied, but of course, mad science has to take precedence. :p

Recently my squirrel friend Ophelia has returned after a long hiatus, and in fact, I can tell that she has been nursing babies! I haven't seen them yet, but I really hope she shows them to me before they are all grown up!

Can't wait to see this.

I dont mean random cats

Joseph Hodes

yes, that's the same squirrel. she's lived near my house for over a year now! i'd like a beehive at some point but it's low priority. the pollinators are very abundant here

styropyro

yeah even using the biggest standard wire size of AWG 4/0, the cables are still going to be the biggest limit on current here

styropyro

i proposed a collab to him a while ago but i don't think he was super interested

styropyro

i don't get many random cats showing up to my house anymore because i found homes for most of them! now it's just the two i kept

My guess is 68 kA. That is mental. Even if you use 6000 A continuous rated busbar, the fault current rating is typical tested for 1 sec for normal people. You can sustain your fault current for ~30 sec? Can’t wait to see you engineer a device to harness this energy. If you have a FLIR camera, it might see some fusion temps shorting a tungsten rod. I wouldn’t be surprised if you put 100 batteries in series to make the worlds most lethal battery, too dangerous to disassemble lol. Probably not wise. I was testing 1 MW BESS today, only had a pitiful 50 A @ 10 kV. Good luck.

Was about to say "did you accidentally dox yourself" but nope, you just bought mernards out of batteries.

Holy sh- heck!

Is that the same squirrel that surprised the FBI agents? And are you gonna get a beehive as well because the main thing where I live is that there are not a lot of pollinators so I have to tend to the pollinating myself

The amount of copper needed to run the batteries in parallel would be absolutely insane. That thing would probably output 100kA. Assuming I^2R losses…

Faraz Sadrzadeh

Have you considered doing a video with Cody'sLab? You both seem to have pretty similar interests and similarly sized channels. I think it would be awesome if you two could team up and do something crazy for a few videos.

Not interested in the 100 batteries in parallel i am interested in when u are going to release a 1 hour video of a compilation of every time a cat approaches u at ur house
