progress on the new lab

I’m making progress on the new lab! Soon after closing on the property, I had the 400 amp service put in. It certainly helps having half of my family in construction, because my dad was able to dig the trench while my uncle and cousin ran the big power cables and put in the panel. I’ve moved most of my stuff into the new place, but I’m still waiting on the previous owner to remove an enormous amount of stuff.

Most of what I’ve done since the power upgrade has been cleaning. The house here is absolutely filthy, and I’ve spent weeks trying to get it into a livable state. There’s mouse crap everywhere, the doors and windows are falling apart, and I even found a dead bat in the bathtub. I still have to replace some flooring and get rid of a bunch of junk too. I’ve also been cleaning out my old shop so I can give it back to my landlord in an acceptable state.

When I say there is a lot of junk here, I’m not kidding. Dead vehicles, farm equipment, appliances, and much more. Some of it I’ll find uses for, most of the other stuff I’ll have to get rid of somehow. In the midst of all the cleaning I’ve been planning out the rest of the upgrades on the lab, including wiring in new lighting, getting insulation and HVAC, and maybe putting in a few interior rooms. It’s been a ton of work, and I’m missing a lot of sleep trying to get it all done, but at least it’s progress. Stay tuned!

Sounds like you have a yard full of laser targets and tannerite experiments to me! "Did you ever wonder what would happen when you took a giant laser microwave to a pile of junk?!" 🤣🤣🤣 Cant wait to see your dream become a reality!

400Amps....DC? Because AC would be 48KW....Oh that's right, fire up the lasers!!

Awesome. Keep it up! This sounds like the long haul man. You might want to think about that and get more sleep.

You can actually get a special switch for the breaker that is mandatory in new builds, it’s a mechanical safety that prevents the breaker from being on when the generator is also connected. Highly recommend it as then this common mistake cannot happen

I appreciate the sharpie generator warning
