New video!!! Patreon exclusive early viewing!!!

This is the next video in my Overclocked series! I start by unsuccessfully trying to upgrade my arc lighter, and I end up building a giant vacuum tube based RF plasma torch. This video is a good mashup of high voltage and chemistry.

The circuit I used is very interesting, but also extremely dangerous. Special thanks to the YouTubers Zilipoper and Teslista555 as their GU-5B plasma generator builds gave me critical info for my build. Also big thanks to YouTuber Vidduley for providing info on this mysterious schematic that has roots from nearly a century ago.

Oh yeah, I put all the names of my patrons (as of July 31 at least) at the end of the video!

I'm not sure when I'll make this video public, as I still need to make a thumbnail and such, so please don't share it yet :D

oh man nice work!!!

You are CRAZY! Question; Why an onion ????

Ray Hahn

Nice work! It would be really cool to see the interference on a [real time] spectrum analyzer or software defined radio such as an RTL-SDR or Airsoft HF+.

tungsten oxidizes fairly quickly in air, and the oxide melts at around 1400°C. The fact that you destroyed a tungsten electrode does not mean you reached its melting point, although you probably did. I once tried to build a oven using tungsten heating wire, and it destroyed itself in air almost instantly.

Were you outside the Faraday cage when you were filming?

Michael McGuffin

Fascinating and entertaining as always! Small feedback to consider from a puny bronze supporter - on the clips where you're showing on screen, the lighting is quite harshly cold compared to the other parts of the video. Maybe just adjusting white balance to a slightly warmer tone could help without the need to invest in new lighting?

I've increased my support because this video is so awesome and hilarious :-)

Double check the supporter names for typos / mangled accented characters (silver: Szalay D...niel? bronze: Mathias R...nholm?)

Nothing better than a hot StyroPyro video!
