I'm sharing the private info below with you only, my patrons, please don't make it public till it goes public later this month.
I've had the honour to be invited as a panelist for Dread Central's upcoming article of Best Horror Film Festivals! The list is going to be put together by the former MovieMaker editor Max Weinstein, with the help of an international panel of experts, and I'm happy I was invited as well among those experts. I won't be paid for this, ha ha, but still, it f...

Hi, everyone, I am so sorry for not posting new things on Patreon lately, this has been constantly on my mind, but I couldn't find the time due to all the developments in my professional life in the last couple of months.
Here's a summary of things that happened (with extra info compared to a similar facebook post I made), but also expect a series of Patreon posts one after another (sorry for that) detailing some of these and offering you exclusive insights and perks where applicable:

I'be been asked numerous times for advices on filmmaking or how to break into the film industry.
My first advice: make your own film, regardless if you have no experience at all, or you're just a screenwriter or actor. Don't wait for opportunities, make your own opportunities!
My second advice: ignore "how to" articles on filmmaking. They can put you down with all the things they list as needed. You don't need a camera, you don't need a crew, you don't need actors, you don't need ...

I've been asked what happens behind the curtain in the torture scene. Well, in the movie you can guess what happens, but here's what happened in reality, in the first picture of this kind I have ever published, exclusively for Patrons! Plus other behind-the-scenes photos from the end of the shootings.

I got happy these days when the director of an important horror film festival in Italy, and also of a cult distribution company, called Be My Cat a CULT film on Facebook. And many other horror geeks, including industry professionals, commented to the Facebook post I made & expressed similar opinions. After Be My Cat failed to be the immediate commercial success I was dreaming of, I started ...

Great news about Be My Cat's new DVD releases! Yes, there's going to be two of them, and quite different from each other:
- a self-release I am doing via Amazon, which will feature the current creepy poster by Terror Films (I'm grateful they allowed me to use it), improved sound compared to the DVD release from years ago, 12 minutes of never-before-seen extra scenes (which you can already watch exclusively on Patreon), and English closed captions.
- a luxury limited edition releas...

Here's the premiere of the never-before-seen extra scenes from Be My Cat, exclusively for you, my patrons!
Most of them are scenes not included in the final cut of the movie due to story or runtime concerns. The two interviews with Sonya and Flory are not between me and the actual actresses, but between my character and the actresses they play in the movie. The basement scene with Alexandra is a blooper, she couldn't detach the camera on the first take and I had to reshoot (the re...

I've realised that many of you who are not in the film industry might not understand much when I write about the struggles of indie filmmakers with film festivals. I'm writing as if you're all filmmakers, ha ha.
Here are the basics: if you somehow manage to make your first film (short, long, documentary, doesn't matter), that film is not considered a professional artistic film until vetted by at least one festival which has a certain degree of recognition in the industry. The festivals ...

Hi, everyone,
After having my flights canceled again and again because of the pandemic, I decided to go by bus to Turkey to reunite with Duru (my wife and creative partner) after all these months of being stuck in different countries. A hell of a journey, changing multiple busses plus a local plane from my hometown Rădăuți (Romania) to Izmir (Turkey), two nights of not sleeping, lots of stress (one of the buses could've been canceled one day before departure), but I finally arrived a...

Hi, everyone, so sorry for not publishing updates in a while, I was in an extremely intense period, lots of issues to solve on multiple levels, both professional and personal, but I’ll be a bit freer starting Tuesday and I’ll make a bigger post with everything that happened all this time.
So sorry that I didn’t manage yet to send personal thank you messages to my new patrons, I will do that as soon as possible.
P.S. The extra scenes for Be My Cats new ...

Hi, everyone, the last couple of weeks I've worked on major updates on my film festival lists, emphasising discovery festivals by also considering the number of feature world premieres they screen. For the world premiere of their movies, indie filmmakers have a higher chance of selection when submitting to festivals which usually screen world premieres, compared to festivals which mostly screen regional premieres of movies coming from other festivals.

Here's the plan for We Put the World to Sleep:
1. Creating a fist rough cut of about 5 to 7 hours (out of the 90 hours of footage we shot for the movie, plus archive footage, both personal & from other sources). I'm currently working on this all by myself.
2. I'll be sharing that cut with Duru and use her feedback to bring it down to about 3 to 4 hours of essential footage.
3. We'll be sharing that cut with the rest of the main team (investors, actors) ...

Here's a weird one and probably unexpected for most of you. When I was a teenager I discovered Britney Spears, more exactly Baby One More Time & Oops I Did It Again, and that was a big WOW for me. That's when I started to be interested in music as a form of art (till then I was a lot into sciences). Bigger WOWs came afterwards when I discovered Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody and then classical music, but I think the first one with Britney had the biggest influence on Be My Cat. As a teenager I...

Back in 2013 I contacted actress Brittany Ashworth on Twitter (the star of Exhibit A) and proposed her to star in Be My Cat. She gave me the email of her agent. After I wrote a detailed proposal [read a fragment below, exclusively for Patrons], her agent declined and then Brittany Ashworth either blocked me on Twitter or made her profile private. One of the weirdest happenings related to Be My Cat. ...
