If you thought my tattoo laser was cool, this setup when running will produce pulses that are several THOUSAND times stronger than the tattoo removal setup. This is a government surplus optical amplifier that was made for early inertial confinement fusion research. In my setup I'll run it as a free-running oscillator for longer but more energetic pulses than what it was intended for. This project will be quite an undertaking and will require a MASSIVE capacitor bank to fire those lamps. I've talked about building a giant Nd:glass laser for years and now the project is starting to come together!

It'll be a while before I can finish this one as I have a LOT of measurements and calculations do to before getting started with the building. That being said, there are a lot of other cool videos in the works, and I'll be giving you all a video update in a few days on that. Stay tuned!!
