new video! MILLION WATT laser from eBay (Patreon early viewing)

My newest video! I'm letting you all see this video first before it goes live!

There's a lot of cool experiments in this video, and I really could have spaced it out into two or three separate videos. This video hits a lot of my favorite things: chemistry, physics, high voltage, and of course extremely high powered lasers. It is my longest video yet.

I really appreciate all the support I've gotten here, and I hope the couple of unlisted videos I posted here since my public upload have been entertaining. Without getting too personal, I shut down my video operations for the most part when my grandpa got diagnosed with terminal cancer. He has since passed away, but thankfully I was able to spend a lot of time with him and my family in his final days.

On a better note, I just received a couple new cameras that I will be filming with from now on, since my previous cameras were destroyed filming this video.

Stay safe and happy lasing!

Great video, entertaining and informative.. Makes me want one of those (even looks like a Star Trek phaser).. Don't think I'll bother though - the green speckles on your video have convinced me otherwise.. lol.. I though the earliest lasers were based on rubies. Just goes to show.. Keep up the good work and stay safe..

Cool and informative video as always. It struck me as kind of strange that the beam wasn't very wide especially for the hair removal options, that would take forever with just that narrow beam

Finally got around to watching this, great video. The pulses being Gaussian in time makes the peak power quite a bit higher than the average. We use a YAG to pump a TiSaph amplifier, and end up with 50mJ in 100ps at 800nm. Dangerous... I would love to see you experiment more with dye lasers! There's also some cool stuff that has been done with protein / bacteria as a lasing medium https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4467703/

So sorry to hear about your grandpa, Drake. I've been through that and it's so hard. I'm glad you could take the time to be with him.
