Recent temp ban

I'm sure most of you have heard by now, but I received a temporary ban from YT after getting strikes on both of my chemical formulary videos. If I get another strike soon, my channel gets permanently deleted. YT is showing their true colors there, allowing someone like logal paul to push a burning mattress into a pool, but won't let a chemist demonstrate recipes from an old chemistry book. Now I will find a way to let my patrons see my chemical formulary vids, so stay tuned for that.

This makes me reluctant to post the video of the laser sniper rifle when my ban is lifted, as well as updates on the explosive laser. I'm gonna have to start using silly words in place of "explosive" and "fire" to skate by the YT algorithms...

Definitely start a backup video channel elsewhere and use YT as the bait for those videos. The way things are headed you will end up (like everyone else) making a weekly digest video for YT that we all subscribe to that lists all the projects you are doing and where to find the videos elsewhere. Load the tame stuff for YT and the content for the other sites where there is less chance of a ban. I would argue that your extant back content on YT is enough as it is to drive your patreon content and that your weekly YT digest is the jumping off point. Eventually, YT will object to people using YT as a jumping off point to other video sites but they cannot have it all ways.

I used to work for Google (now retired) and I used to run the team that analyzed videos in the years after G acquired YT. I can speak with some authority about the kinds of algorithm YT may use. They will probably not be affected in any deep way by using synonyms - YT is capable of making decisions about your channel without looking at text at all, for example, by how often viewers who watch you have watched flagged videos in the past. I don't care for YT's content policies now and I do hope you find a way to stay up. I'll continue to support you on Patreon wherever you are hosted.

these are good suggestions, although i may end up calling the explosive laser something silly like "da boom lazor"

instead of fire, say "rapid oxidation" or "exothermic oxidation" and instead of explode say "energetic disassembly."

Drake, I'm sure I speak for all your patrons in expressing bewilderment at what Youtube considers to be acceptable - given the amount of total rubbish that goes unchallenged, one wonders what they're smoking back there. Your vides are (IMHO) entertaining, informative and always contain adequate warnings about things that could hurt me. If you are kicked off Youtube, rest assured that I will follow you on whatever platform you publish on and will continue to support you in the making of your videos. Gordon

Check this out, hopefully the future of content creation/distribution. I use it a bit, but there isn't a ton of content yet, might be a good place to backup your videos though! You can even set it up to import your youtube channel. https://lbry.io/
