Recommendations for a good oscilloscope?

I want to explore the explosively pumped laser project again, and now with my awesome support from you guys, I can finally order an oscilloscope. I need something that I can hook a photodiode up to, and then record the intensity of flashes of light over time. I'd need resolution on the order of microseconds. Any recommendations for something like this?

Rigol 1000 or 2000 series - I have a Rigol 2000 series dual-channel model which I am very happy with..

rigol ds1054z is highly recommended, you can also get a 'free' upgrade to the 100MHz version from shady people on the internet. (Look around on the EEVBlog forums)

Second the Siglent SDS1000X-E!

thanks for the suggestions guys! both scopes look good, and now I have to decide if 4 channels is more important than 200MHz. I highly doubt I'll need anything better than 50MHz, so I'll probably go with the Rigol (especially if it can be upgraded)

I have a cheap Rigol I've been happy with; I can control it all from USB for exporting traces to a computer for analysis. A microsecond is a long time for a modern scope. A reverse-biased LED will do. Be careful with isolation, standard probes are always grounded, so don't connect to anything that develops HV potential to earth.

Yea that Siglent looks nice. Another hobbiest option is the Rigol DS1054Z (<a href="http://a.co/bBX1Bd7)." rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://a.co/bBX1Bd7).</a> Here's a good review <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETCOhzU1O5A" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETCOhzU1O5A</a> It has the added benefit of being 'upgradable' from 50mhz to 100mhz, with a little bit of google-fu.

What is your budget? I'd take a look at the Siglent SDS1000X-E series scopes. The 4 channel SDS1204X-E just hit the US market, and looks to be the best bang for buck out there. 200 MHz gives you 5ns per period, so no worries on resolution.
