Pokémonday suggestions 71 (06-17-2024)

Welcome to the seventy-first Pokémonday suggestions post! Today, I'm gathering ideas for...

...our box art legendaries!!

One of our final prompts, and maybe the most important one. What kind of legendaries will feature on our fictional game boxes?!

Things to keep in mind: a huge part of this region so far has been inspired by Dungeons and Dragons. Ancient Greek/Latin, and Wooden Plank Studios as a brand have been inspirations to a lesser extent. The box art legendaries should reflect this.

You can come up with a third member of the trio as well, if you want (think Rayquaza, Giratina, Kyurem, Zygarde)

Good luck! Excited to hear your ideas!

I would love to see a combination of D&D and Wooden Plank itself with legendaries based on the lovely Miep and Balthazar using the themes of D&D (maybe luck vs skill?)

Miz Kriss

Could do good and evil themes to match the lawful and chaotic trio. Maybe a Solar to represent good, a Pit fiend or Vecna to represent evil, and perhaps a Shoggoth to represent neutral

Panini Cupcake

To go all-in on the Dungeons & Dragons theme, you could have the box legendaries be based on Bahamut and Tiamat, probably with a charity vs greed theme based on D&D's lore for them. That would also tie them in with the dragon legendary trio you just made! The third legendary could be based on Sardior, the Ruby Dragon who 5e retconned to be dead for some reason. Or, going deep into Forgotten Realms lore, the third legendary could be Asgorath, the original dragon god who was said to have created Bahamut and Tiamat. Some versions of the legend just have Asgorath creating them, other say Asgorath was cleaved in two by an axe and the halves became Bahamut and Tiamat, which could make for an interesting fusion mechanic with the box legendaries. Asgorath is true neutral in a way that he has traits of every alignment at once, such as Bahamut's charity and Tiamat's greed.

GoGoForIt

A grass-dragon type WOODEN wywern based on both yggdrasil (there might be a legendary beasts-hooh like relationship with the loomings). Its cubone-like skull can shape like a viking helmet, and its body can contain swords that tearing its body.It has a light sphere in its belly and levidating runes around the body.Lore wise its the creation pokemon.Dont mistake it with xerneas who make new souls, its the creator of all the madder and the universe. For making contrast to "big bang",we need a "doom",a destructive one.I am not very creative about this one so I gonna say something like Dharkon. It has two shoulderplate and blades attached to them.Blades kinda curved like ganon's teeth and plates looks like wings that makes the whole appearence eyeball-bat like.It has roots coming from the eye, being both an excuse to making it a grass type and "have to destroy for survive" thing. So a creative-destrucive duo based on yggdrasil and dharkon

How about a Rock/Dark-type living cave Pokémon, whose species name is “the Dungeon Pokémon” and a Dragon-type Pokémon that resembles the iconic dragon from the D&D logo, whose species name is “the Dragon Pokémon.” Depending on the version of the game you’re playing, Team Legend is after one of them. However, in both versions, catching them is just a way to get to the third legendary: a Fairy/Psychic-type wizard Pokémon with the power to turn fantasy into reality. Which is why Team Legend wants it, as they’re trying to turn their fantasy game into reality.

The Wesinator

If you go all into D&D, the legendary Duo could be based off a Red Dragon and some grand master wizard. Delphox was a sort of wizard, maybe one that’s fully covered in flesh roams and attached to a giant blue crystal ball at the feet or something.

Justice Taylor

A Dragon/Dark Type Chimera, a Fairy/Steel Pegasus and a Ground/Grass Type Golem.

Veering away from having the legendaries represent the Greek gods, I think a fun direction would be to have them based off of its mythological creatures. Perhaps a vibe of "gatekeepers/guardians". Cerberus (Ghost/Fire) would be an easy pick, but even something like the Minotaur (Dark/Ground?), a Siren (Poison/Water), the Sphinx (Psychic/Ground), or a Lamia (Poison/Psychic?). To blend DnD and Greek together, an Owlbear as a Grass/Ground guardian and Siren (or any other Greek water monster) as a Water/Poison guardian would be neat, and then a fiery Cerberus as the trio master.

How about a dragon like Wizard pokemon clutching a large orb, could be Dragon/Psychic. 2nd one is instead a warrior with armor like made from scales that look like the other legendary and wields a large blade, could be Dark/Fighting. Finally the third one is a massive Ent like pokemon that hidden in its branches is a bunch of items from past games that were important, an ancient tree where lost relics find there way, could also have a little wooden plank hidden in there too, maybe make it Grass/Fairy.

DoubleAC

Dragon Pokemon based on the dragons Taimat of Bahamut. Bahamut has no weaknesses and even though he looks like a dragon, is actually dark/ghost type. It's ability is Dragon's Maw so all dragon powers get a 50% boost so he's a real force of nature. Taimat is a dragon/normal type to start but has an ability to change the normal type to any element that counters it's opponent. The type changes according to the first element of the opponents Pokemon. As an example, Charizard is a Flying/fire type so it Taimat would change from Dragon/normal to Dragon/electric.

Captain Rocko

Here's my idea for the first two: a Dark/Ghost type whose duty is to guard the afterlife and punish those who disturb the dead, and a Fairy/Ghost type whose duty is to protect the living world and guide souls to their reincarnation. It's perfect because there are currently no legendaries with these typings. As for the third legendary; I don't know. I'm thinking of a Fairy/Dark-type queen-like Pokemon who was so tyrannical that the other two legendaries had to seal her away, and that Team Legend's plan is to awaken her to be their new leader.

Peter Passalacqua

Ooh if you want a dungeons and dragons theme I'd love to recommend the box legendaries being a displacer beast, owlbear, and tarasque that are dark/ghost, flying/fighting, and ground/dragon respectively. If you Want ancient Greek though then I'd love to recommend the legendaries being a trio based on the big 3; an electric/flying Pegasus for Zeus, a water/ground hippocampus or Kelpie for poseidon, and a dark/ghost cerberus for hades. Heck maybe you could find a way to combine the two themes somehow.

Aetos

Ok so hear me out, one of them will be based on zeus, a thunder god like mon, and also be based on some of dungeons and dragons deities. The other one will be based on Hades, and also on the "final boss" like dragon or other monster that often are on d&d games where the heroes are fighting it at the endgame The trio master could be the dungeon master mon

Matan

I doubt the Owlbear will be selected in this category so I want it to at least be picked as a mythical
