So basically: two Pokémon (or multiple Pokémon in one evolutionary family) that would be exclusive to either of the two version of our fictional games. They don't have to be clear counterparts, but they often have some connections between them, like Braviary and Mandibuzz or Plusle and Minun or Skrelp and Clauncher.

Okay hear me out. Grass type Pokémon inspired by crop rotation. Over here, the two prominent rotating crops are corn and soybeans, but they can be any type of rotating crops you’d like. The game versions can be like alternating seasons
