Hidden Details: Starter Struggle

Welcome to the one-hundredth-and-fifty-first episode of the Hidden Details blog!

Have you found some obscure reference or detail in this comic? A JoJo reference? A sneaky little Loss? A callback to a previous comic? Let us know what you've found in the comments! Every detail that has been found will be added to the list below. Once everything has been found, this comic will officially be marked with "all details found".

Link to the comic for your convenience

Please only comment with ONE hidden detail or reference!

There is ONE Loss, TWO Balthazars and ONE crewmate. Bonus panels don't count.

1:
There's a Dunsparce (or Dudunsparce) tail visible in the background of the first panel, sticking out of the ground, as mentioned by Shelby Kinkead.
2:
Incineroar mentioning that Kazuya has experience raising plants is of course a reference to him raising Piranha Plant in the Everyone is Dead-arc!
3:
There's a Pumpkaboo hiding in the pumpkin patch in the background of the first panel. Is Pumpkaboo even in Scarlet/Violet, Spirit of Gotham?
4:
You call it floating, Karelia Cristina, but the Jigglypuff in the background of the second panel is a reference to a hilarious bug that makes Jigglypuff blast off in that one windy area in Scarlet/Violet.
5:
I'd appreciate it if you'd tell me where you actually found him, Cameron Devera, instead of just shooting you have dibs on him, but you're correct. Balthazar, or rather his Pokémon equivalent Baltabun, is hiding among the flowers in the background of the fourth panel.
6:
Sprigatito is rubbing up against Incineroar's leg in the fourth panel. I think it's likely she likes her fellow cat, Percylegallois.
7:
I don't know, HaydenEatsShrimp. Seems more likely that a certain graffiti-spraying Pokémon drew that cool S on the tree in the second panel.
8:
Haha glad you noticed the Exeggutor in the final panel, Trigger! That used to be the main running joke when I was doing Young Adult Red comics back in the Sun & Moon days!
9:
The boys are using Pokémon moves in the final panel. Sephiroth is obviously using Bite (as mentioned Fighting Master) and Incineroar is using Flamethrower or Fire Spin (as mentioned by TommyW). I wonder what Kazuya is using though. Or maybe he's just avoiding.
10:
And the real Balthazar appearance in this comic is the little button on the bag that's lying on the ground in the final panel. Good eyes, Lord Circe.
11:
One of Professor Sada's buttons in the final panel is indeed looking a bit sus, Bastion.
12:
There's a little Smoliv in the background of the final panel cheering on Sprigatito. You're right Generic Hero, she's supporting her fellow Grass-type.
13:
Yes, errors like these happen sometimes because I don't have time to play the games I make comics about, edmg7. I knew it's the creepy old guy who gives you the starter in Scarlet/Violet but I wanted to draw the hot professor lady. Little did I know there are (spoilery) lore reasons for that not to be possible in the game. If you all convince your friends to become Patrons too I can hire someone to cut my workload in half and I can actually play these games again!
14:
This week's loss is visible in the yellow stripes on the battlefield in the final panel, as pointed out by Zanreo!
15:
Yeah, I just noticed I forgot to add tears to Incineroar and Sephiroth's clothes too, Zach. Now only Kazuya has torn clothes.

Next week, I'll reveal all the details that haven't been found. These ones are written in italic.
