True Blue - live at Sternatelier5, Vienna

This morning, when I thought about what I’ll share with you today, I immediately got the feeling that it’s gonna be my song ‚True Blue‘. You‘ve heard the earliest draft, as a piano improvisation back in Oct‘23 (it’s Sunday piano meditation no. 5!), then as a song draft, and I think I’ve never shared the finished song. Jamie and I took a while to complete the lyrics, I had some ideas before, but we only used my first verse and kept the Chorus (that one was set from the beginning), the rest got rewritten. So we changed both pre-choruses, the second verse - and added a bridge :)

After meeting in Cork in October we continued remotely, had a few zoom calls (little throwback to Covid times haha) and after having a creative break in winter, it was finished in the end of May.

This video is from last Thursday, when I played a concert at the Atelier of friends of mine, they started to host events every month - and it’s such a cozy spot with the fireplace, the curtains, candles and cushions everywhere, I love it. Cler (another friend of mine who I studied with) opened the evening, it was the perfect combination, also the audience created a beautiful atmosphere. Hope you enjoy it too!

It’s a little kitschy, I admit - it’s THE love ballad of the album and also the most quiet, minimalistic song, so it fits well inbetween all the others.
