Hidden Details: Street Lover

Welcome to the one-hundredth-and-nineteenth episode of the Hidden Details blog!

Have you found some obscure reference or detail in this comic? A JoJo reference? A sneaky little Loss? A callback to a previous comic? Let us know what you've found in the comments! Every detail that has been found will be added to the list below. Once everything has been found, this comic will officially be marked with "all details found".

Link to the comic for your convenience

Please only comment with ONE hidden detail or reference!

There is ONE Loss, ONE Balthazar, ONE crewmate and NO JoJo reference. Bonus panels don't count.

1: The Xenoblade lore books from the previous comics are visible in the background in the first panel.
2:
Many interestingly shaped chocolates in Simon's box in the first panel, as mentioned by Daniel Myhre. Among them (hehe) is a crewmate, as pointed out by Cameron Devera. Simon is handing a chocolate Metroid to Dark Samus, as pointed out by edmg7. Dark Samus is holding a little Wario W, as pointed out by CSDX.
3:
I had to insert a quick and easy reason as to why they are celebrating holidays when their friends are dead, that's why I included that banner with the Isabelle's note in the first panel, Lord Circe!
4:
Yes! You'll have to zoom in but Bayonetta is drinking the wine from Resident Evil Village, Sanguis Virginus. Maybe Isabelle brought a bottle home when she went on holiday there, Trigger.
5: There's a little bit of foreshadowing on the door next to Bayonetta when she's calling Scorpion: it says "unrevived fighters 60-70". Ryu and Ken are fighter 60 and 60ᵋ.
6:
Bayonetta's phone case has little Umbra Witch decals!
7:
Scorpoin and Sub-Zero are on an actual Mortal Kombat stage, but I couldn't tell you all what the name of the stage is. I think it's an iconic one though!
8:
This week's loss is not the usual arrangement of lines, but a "LOSS" sign similar to the "HOME" signs some people have in their homes. Congrats on finding this prestigious detail, Jonas!
9:
There's a little picture of baby Piranha Plant as a seed on Kazuya's wall.
10: Kazuya is also keeping tabs on Plant's height. We can see measuring lines on the wall behind him. Glad you noticed, Luffink!
11:
Kazuya is reading a "the birds and the bees" book to Plant. Yeah, guess he's getting old, Shelby Kinkead.
12:
Bayonetta is carrying the dead fighters around with Madama Butterfly's hand she summons from portals. Just like in Smash, Tim Vinson!
13:
Yes Chj92!! Ryu, Ken and Terry are lying in their respective K.O. poses from their original games! Glad someone noticed this. Later, Ryu does a whole-ass flip and changes into his fighting stance as well, as pointed out by Zach.
14:
The Smash house is temporarily closed because of a mass murder, as indicated by the sign on the front door. This sign appeared once before in a bonus panel involving Goofy and Donald!
15:
I agree, Luke! The Balthazar garden gnome seen in the yard outside does have to be real!
16:
Correct Phloxiana, Squirtle and Pikachu are watching the fight from the first floor. Or second floor if you're American, I guess.
17:
Piranha Plant has a little purple flame decal on the side of his pot, just like his dad has on his pants! Glad you noticed that, Nathan Lowell. He also takes on the same pose as his dad, but it's not a reference to Tekken Tag Team as far as I'm concerned, Eevee Shadow Bacon.
18:
The flying Pikmin aren't good at spelling, as indicated by the backwards R in Ryu. Good catch, Michael Ederer. And one of the flying Pikmin colours the health bar of Ryu/Ken/Terry once they're revived. My personal favourite detail this week, Supercharged (CEO of 9-Volt)!
19:
We can see Zelda with two Valentine's Day letters and getting another one from Toon Link. Based on the colours of the envelopes, I'd say they are indeed from Young Link and Toon Link, Griffin Seeley!
20:
And in the final panel we can also see Duck getting ready to give a Valentine's Day letter to Kazooie! Good eye, Tejayes.
21:
I have no idea what his gloves are supposed to say, but yes, in this comic, Ryu's glove say "uwu", A Sad Fat Dragon with No Friends.
22:
The error on Kazuya's health bar sign is actually a reference to myself, as I had no idea who Kazuya was when he was revealed and I had a very hard time remembering his name. My mind always got stuck on "Yakuza". By now I can remember his name, luckily. Good catch Zanreo!
23:
And finally: yes Jon Brouse, Terry calling Bayonetta the Queen of Fighter is of course a reference to his own game series!

Next week, I'll reveal all the details that haven't been found. These ones are written in italic.

Comments

The pit* stage MK that scorpion & sub zero are on, late but replying to your detail.

THEx

Darn, thought I had that Tekken Reference. Oh well.

Eevee Shadow Bacon

Oh! Scorpion and Sub-Zero are fighting in The Pit!

P.A.L

I thought there was a jojo reference?

A Sad Fat Dragon with No Friends

Dunno if it has anything to do with it but Bayonetta calls scorpion outside of fighter's room 60-70, which is where bayo and simon's fighter numbers falls into (63 & 66 respectively)

Snekaj

Kazuya keeps track of Piranha Plant's height growth, underneath the picture of Piranha as a seedling

Snekaj

Buddy, the rules are one hidden detail for each person.

THEx

Chocolate crewmate

CourierChris

balthazar is a garden knome in this comic

Matthew Gallelli

pikachu and squirtle are watch the fight outside.

Matthew Gallelli

Pirahna plant has the flames that are on kazuya pants on his pot

Matthew Gallelli

kazuya has a picture of pirahna plants seed.

Matthew Gallelli

one of the chocolates is an among us character

Matthew Gallelli

@Shelby Kinkhead There's a lot of implication that B3 Bayo is not the same Bayo.

Moats

Speaking of Batonetta, even after Batonetta 3 has been announced why haven’t we seen her in the attire in said game in the comics yet?

Shelby Kinkead

That’s actually a very good question! Hey Wooden Plank Studios, whatever happened to Kazooie’s chicks?

Shelby Kinkead

Also while you said the bonus panels don’t count, I am impressed that you included a shiny Litten in it

Shelby Kinkead

I feel like there was some kind of mark on Bayonetta’s right shoe, as it doesn’t match the pattern on the left shoe. I don’t know, could have always been there.

Kelly Culham-Erickson

The chocolates are all the fighter icons.

Pokedude14

Wendy is in charge of the Litten Farm because she can drive around with the eggs, mimicking the tried and true tradition of getting on a bike in Pokemon and going around in circles until the eggs you're carrying with you hatch.

OddEyes

Squirtle and Pikachu are watching the “fight” from the windows.

Phloxiana

Terry calling Bayonetta the Queen of Fighters is a reference to the series Terry often shows up in, the King of Fighters.

Jon Brouse

Dark Samus is holding a chocolate shaped as a W for Wario in the first panel. I like to think it's a callback for when they revived Toon Link.

CSDX

This is the first time Ken has appeared in a comic since 2018

C B

Upon revival, Ryu assumes his fighting stance, ready to face off against Kazuya.

Zach

Kazuya is reading up on the birds and the bees in the fourth panel. God only knows what a Piranha Plant puberty looks like

Margot Harris

Ryu, Ken, and Terry are in seen in their ko poses from their respective games during the fighting match mock-up.

Chj92

The flying Pikmin are refilling/highlighting the health bar of the fighters for the second round like in most fighting games.

Noah

I see a LOSS on top of Kazuya's closet

Ness Main

The Isabelles apparently had some people being less than chill about the whole revival thing, so they needed to add a disclaimer to the banner in Panel 1.

Lord Circe

The R in Ryu is backwards, like in Toys R Us

Michael Ederer

Duckhunt duck apparently has a thing for Kazooie. And Bayonetta was carrying Ryu, Ken and Terry around with her special attack hand.

Tim Vinson

Duck has a Valentine for Kazooie. Speaking of Kazooie, whatever happened to her chicks?

Tejayes

Looking kinda sus - it's probably impostor chocolate!

Tejayes

The pink flying Pikmin paint in the lifebar green after the fighters get revived

Supercharged (CEO of 9-Volt)

Among all the character themed chocolates, Simon is giving Dark Samus a Metroid shaped chocolate.

edmg7

There’s a Piranha Plant high chart in the fourth panel

happy pasta

Pirahna Plant gets its own fighting pose with Kazuma might be reference to Tekkan Tag Team games

Eevee Shadow Bacon

Well, Toonlink still has problems getting recognized

Jonas

Daddy Kazuya has a picture of Piranha's Plant seed and measuring lines in the wall of his room

Luffink

There is a LOSS ontop of Kayuzas wardrobe

Jonas

Zelda got a Valentine from all three of the Links

Griffin Seeley

Kazuya's name first got misspelled as Yakuza, which is both an anagram of "Kazuya" and a possible reference to how he's been referred to as the closest we'll get to Kiryu from the Yakuza series?

Zanreo

Bayonetta is drinking some "Virgin's Blood" in the first panel

Trigger

Chocolate crew mate on the first panel!

Cameron Devera

Judging by the birds and the bees book being read to by Kazuya, sounds like Piranna Plant is reaching adulthood

Shelby Kinkead

Piranha plant's pot has the flame decal on the side

Hashbrown

in the panel where Ryu does a sick flip, his gloves say 'uwu'

A Sad Fat Dragon with No Friends

There is a Balthazar gnome, which needs to be real!

Luke
