Sunday piano meditation - no. 11

Happy 2nd advent Sunday everyone!

Today's improvisation might be a little inspired by the wonderful film score by Yann Tiersen for "Amélie", which I played through the other day at a friends place, really late in the evening. I was sitting at their very old, pretty out of tune piano while they're were having late night tea and cigarettes by the kitchen table, a quite nice (maybe even movie-like) scenery. I listened to Tiersen's piano music a lot, really a lot when I was a teenager and I still know all those melodies by heart. Probably no surprise to you - if you haven't listened to it yet, take a moment to do so, it's a great soundtrack!

Also as you probably notice, I again didn't record this at home - this time I was at a music school, where I play private concerts from time to time. The person doesn't like to go to usual concerts, because of all the people there - so he asked me if I could play just for him every other month. This was the last tune I played today, before I left, and we were already running out of time (if you listen carefully you can hear how the door opens in between, because the next student who booked the room wanted to come in already). I really like the grand piano in that particular room, it plays very nicely - a big Bechstein with a beautiful clear and long-lasting, floating sound.

Have a beautiful evening, all the best and take care! I will hop over to a friends Christmas gathering now :)

xx

PS: This was the last piece of the first round - it's in B minor. So next week, we'll start freshly with C again - but this time with the equivalent mode, every major turns into minor and vice versa. :)
