Wooden Update: new year, new Patreon!

Hey everyone! Exciting news!

You'll notice the fancy little header at the top of this post. Heck, if you're actually viewing this on our Patreon page (and not in an email), you'll notice the whole page is looking different. Don't panic though, this is all part of the plan.

While our reach and popularity has been growing on social media, our Patreon hasn't exactly been well-maintained. That's our fault. We just didn't feel like putting too much time in a platform that makes us $ 58 a month and I'm sure you can all understand that. But as long as we weren't making an effort to actually attract new Patrons and give our current Patrons cool stuff in return for their support, we'd be stuck in a never-ending loop of neglect. So in December 2017, we decided to change that.

It took a bit longer than anticipated, but I'd like to welcome you to our brand new Patreon page that SHOULD be a lot cooler to support now! We've changed a lot, but I'll try to give you a short breakdown:

NEW REWARD: AVATAR GIVEAWAY!

The old rewards were kinda weird. Now, they're a lot more focused on giving you goodies and fun stuff in return for your support. Every month, every single one of you will have a change of winning a custom avatar of your choice, drawn by me! If you support us, you automatically participate in the monthly Avatar Giveaway, and we'll pick a winner every 1st of the month, so the first winner will be announced April 1st!

NEW REWARD: HOLIDAY GIVEAWAY (FULL BODY PORTRAIT + CHARACTER)

You'll also have a chance to win a full-body portrait with a (fictional) character of your choice every major holiday! If you want to participate in these giveaways, you have to comment on the Holiday Giveaway post we publish around the time of every holiday! The first major holiday that's coming up is Easter, also April 1st, so around that time, we'll put up a post you can comment on if you want to participate in the holiday-portrait-giveaway.

If you're in the $1 tier, you'll get ONE ENTRY in the giveaway.
If you're in the $3 tier, you'll get THREE ENTRIES in the giveaway.
If you're in the $5 tier, you'll get FIVE ENTRIES in the giveaway.

So the higher your pledge, the higher chance you have at winning. For the few Patrons that give us more than $5: you'll receive as many entries as the amount of dollars you donate to us every month!

NEW REWARD: MERCHANDISE GIVEAWAY!

Disclaimer: we actually don't have any merchandise to give away yet, but we're looking into it! The moment we have our first piece of merchandise (it's quite hard to come up with something that people would want), we will give one piece of it away for free to one of our Patrons in the $5 tier! We haven't decided all the details and rules yet, but we will once our first merchandise will become available! So stay tuned.

NEW BLOG: HIDDEN DETAILS

I've been told numerous times now that the power of our comics is in the details. So to focus on that aspect of our comics, we created a new kind of blog post: Hidden Details. In these blogs, I will delve into the backgrounds of our comics to reveal a few hidden jokes, references or cameos. I'll focus on the smallest, hardest-to-find ones, so even the sharpest viewers might be surprised at the details they've missed. And yes, believe me, you've missed a lot. I will post these blog posts every Friday and you'll be able to view them if you're part of our $3 tier!

The progress pictures still exist, but they are now called Progress Pictures (Capital Letters Are Important) and they're available for $1 Patrons and up.

The goals have also been updated to be a bit more realistic. We're planning to chance a lot more in the coming months. I will use these "Wooden Update" posts to keep you posted about changes and new stuff! Hope you like the changes we're making and I secretly hope we can actually manage to earn a bit more using Patreon now, haha.
