Nah, they still sell great when they do get released. But the money hungry publishers all want to add cosmetics and crap that u pay real world money for and it’s proven next to impossible to get people to pay for that kind of stuff in single player story driven games. So publishers and devs keep focusing on the multiplayer market. And while I’ll admit that it is a popular market, but it’s not the only market by any means.

Hmm, are story games slowly dying out? Maybe they don't make as much money as some phone game full of micro transactions.

No no, it’s the games that have changed. Everything’s getting too focused on multiplayer and not enough on a good story that u can play by urself OR with others.

We all fake it anyway! I have mini-humans now and I still can't believe they let me leave the hospital with them.

Maybe Earthbound-styled RPG would be a good fit.

As a man who really enjoys games, even to this day, I can safely say that I'm just as incapable of Adulting today as I was 20 years ago. :')

Adventure/platformer if you wanted something straight forward. Ex: Jak and Daxter or maybe a funny rpg type. Ex: South Park the Stick of Truth. Or just a simple side scroller with a funny story. 🤷 I would be a fan of any of them
