Dr. Nick, Spoonman, the great Emma, and ghost of Yusong, I grew up in the town which was the headquarters of “Schwan’s Foods” in rural Marshall, Minnesota, a large frozen food company which - among other brands including Edwards Pies, Mrs. Smith’s, Tony’s pizza, and Pagoda - is the maker of Red Baron Pizza! So, for my 9th birthday, I was the first (and maybe only ever as the location closed not long after) person to have a birthday party at the “Red Baron Museum.” The location was attached to an active regional airport, and featured multiple airplanes and biplanes (both in doors hanging from the ceiling and outside available to see fly), a theater featuring a documentary on the history of the IRL Red Baron, basically all you could eat Red Baron pizza, and most notably a flight simulator that would lift and rotate 360 degrees. With this inspiration, if you could choose any restaurant or food brand to host a party around, what would you choose (other than a trip to the Taco Bell hotel of course….)? Thanks! Hey All, In your past Feedbag, you all stated that you would “eat man”, if given the chance. So I thought I would share this little story: During college, I did a semester abroad and my professor there would tell us about how he used to do overseas posting in the Congo. He would interact with the indigenous tribes and report back on what he found. He would only be accompanied by one or two other men, even though he knew they wouldn’t be of much protection to him. He knew it was more important to gain the tribes trust, so he followed along during an initial ceremony, where some food was presented to him. He wasn’t sure what it was, but he accepted it to please the tribe and earn their respect. He later found out from one of the guides, that he had eaten a piece of a young man’s flesh (specially from their upper thigh) since the tribe was cannibalistic. When I asked him what human flesh tasted like he said it was sort of like “unseasoned pork”. So based on that, is there anything you would never dare to try? Last summer I moved to a new neighborhood. There's a store down the street that I walk to often. On one of these walks to the store, I noticed a man watering the plants in his front yard. He was wearing a Doughboys t-shirt! Wow. A fellow Doughboys fan just down the street! I was so excited I ran to the store and back home without interacting with the man. I would later see this man again wearing a different Doughboys t-shirt, but this time he had raised the stakes and had a baby in a stroller - definitely couldn't approach him then. Nowadays I will sometimes put on my Doughboys "Oven Fries" hoodie (I've grown out of my own Doughboys t-shirt) and walk to the store in an attempt to be seen by this man and strike up a conversation but to no avail. How would you recommend approaching a stranger that you once saw wear a Doughboys t-shirt? Should I wait until he's wearing it again? I want to be more "neighborly."

Slushy machines are amazing at homogenizing solid and liquid states of ice, and they're underutilized when they only have the flavors "red" and "blue." In fact, I think most drinks are better out of a slushy machine: I'd rather have my iced coffee, juice, lassi, wine, soda, etc. served slushy-style, out of a rotating machine with tiny, almost-emulsified grains of ice. Are there any drinks you'd also like to be served slushy/slurpee-style, and do you think I'm off-base that slushy is better than when the ice and liquid are separate?

Hello boys, DK, and Emmer (happy late bday). Here’s an important question: if there were a fast food expansion draft, what items would the new restaurant draft? Rules are the restaurant has 5 picks, but each existing restaurant has 2 keepers. This means for a place like in n out, burger and shake will most likely be off the board, so would you want their fries as a part of your menu? Probably not. BUT for a place like Taco Bell, the top menu items are basically the whole menu. You get. The keepers must be agreed upon by Wiger and Mitch. Thanks for your service. Go Lakers.

Apologies if this has been addressed before, but what do you boys think of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show? Does it ring any nostalgia bells for you? I recently watched an episode on YouTube that made me think of you guys. What is the best fast food deal you have encountered? Back in the mid 90s there was a Subway I would go to in NYC that had 2 foot longs for $8. 12 years before the $5 foot long promotion. Also in the early 90s at a McDonalds in Florida I went to, there use to be 29 Cent Hamburger Tuesdays and 39 Cent Cheeseburger Wednesdays.

I am from Indianapolis and now live in Brooklyn. I have a theory that chain restaurants in the middle of the country are way better than their counter parts in NYC. The reason being New York is so hectic and you deal with so many horrible ppl all day it wears the workers down to not care at all about the product they put out. This is not always true but for the vast majority it seems the food is much lower quality. Have you noticed a difference in LA fast food quality to the quality of fast food places you’ve visited in much less population dense place. Thank you for your time. My partner and I were putting together our Mount Potatomores when we got into a heated argument about what constitutes a potato dish. Hey there Doughboys. Last time I wrote in, I told you about a local restaurant who comp'd our entire food bill when they learned it was my parent's 40th wedding anniversary. My mother and I went back alone this past weekend, where she fell down the stairs getting to the basement rest room and fractured her C-6 vertebrae, effectively breaking her neck. I had never seen so much blood. Mom's in a heavy neck brace for 2-months but will be fine, thankfully. Over the 13 years we've been together, we've constantly had arguments over whether cheesecakes should be identified as a cake or a pie (she's adamant that cheesecakes are pies). Have you ever taken someone to a chain where they COMPLETELY did not get it? I went to college in Ithaca (Mitch, Yusong, hope you recognize the following landmark) and on route 13 there was a McDonald's that as of the mid 2010s was still 'rocking' the guitars and jukebox theming. One time in college I went with a group of friends. We were in line to order behind what seemed to be a student, their mother, and their grandmother. As they stepped up to order the Grandmotherly woman stage-whispered to the others "I don't like ANY of this shit." The other two placed their order, and then their elderly companion asked the cashier for "A toasted bun with margarine." He explained to her that he would have to charge for a full burger adding as an afterthought, "... we don't have margarine." I do not remember the resolution to this story, but the surreal exchange haunts me to this day. I desperately need answers, but I will settle for your thoughts and answers to my question: Have you or an acquaintance ever grossly misunderstood the concept of a chain restaurant? Ian from Philly

Hey Doughboys, Emma, Yusong, and DK. My partner recently did dry January, but considering she and I do not really drink much alcohol, she decided to cut out all beverages except for water and tea (she's a big Coca-Cola fan). Fast-forward a couple of weeks. We're preparing to get Shake Shack. She remarks that she's excited to get a milkshake. I ask her if that counts against her dry January. The biggest fight we've ever had ensues. She thinks a milkshake doesn't count as a non-water/tea drink. I do. I told her that I would ask the Doughboys, to which she responded, "Who the fuck are the Doughboys?" So, do you think a milkshake is a drink, and would it count against a dry January wherein you cut all beverages except water and tea? Looking forward to your answers. (PS the fight wasn't that big). I recently took a food sensitivity test and found out I am mildly allergic to egg whites, barley, and cow's milk. All items that I regularly consume in the foods I eat. Are there any foods that you would not be able to give up if you found out you were allergic to them.

I definitely eat different in the winter months...hearty comfort food. Chili, mashed potatoes, lasagna, and casseroles come to mind. Does your eating change very much with the seasons?

Greetings from Orange County, CA! Previously, I worked in Food & Beverage for a couple of the biggest sports & entertainment catering companies for about 10 years. So I come to break the hearts of both Mitch Wiger. Mitch - The Fenway frank is not as unique as you think! Aramark serves the same hot dog wherever they host catering, so what you taste is pure nostalgia. Wiger - speaking of nostalgia, the Dodger Dog controversy of a few years ago was laughable from someone on the inside because the Farmer John hot dog didn't leave dodger stadium in 2021 like it was widely reported, it actually left about 2 years earlier and nobody knew it!! Both SoCal MLB teams had a contract with the Farmer John brand, but the dogs were actually Smithfield's. So during this time and to honor their contracts, BOTH stadiums served a dog that was farmer john in name only!! My question is.. Is there a food "lie" that you discovered that changed your opinion on that product? P.S. reach out to me for more stadium food insider truths!

Hey Mitch, Nick, Emma, Yu underscore song and DK! You all are the best. When I was a kid, a chicken sandwich from a cart outside of Fenway Park made me vom in the stands during a Red Sox game. I’ve been back to Fenway many times but I will never in my life try another chicken sandwich there, even though it is one of my favorite foods elsewhere. This is a common phenomenon and psychologists think it is an evolutionary behavior to avoid poisoning. Are there any foods that made you sick once that you will never try again even though it was probably just a bad batch?

My hometown is known for eating deep fried pig brain sandwiches. It sort of tastes like nothing and the texture is exactly like you think. Sort of boring/gross. But it is our gross. It is normally served at fairs but a few restaurants have it on their menu as well. Is there any kind of food from your hometown that may sound gross/weird to others but means a lot to you?

A lot of bowling leagues have something called a "pizza frame" where if everyone on the team gets a strike in the 5th frame of a game, the team wins a free pizza (or a pitcher of beer in some places). Since the Doughboys don’t want their shows to become superspreader events for the unvaccinated, would they ever consider trying regional mail order foods? Buddy’s in Detroit ships a Za that you bake yourself and I’d assume Mr. Slice could re use the pan. Also, American Coney Island ships a box with everything you need to make a batch of Coney Dogs including a nice paper hat.
