Opening Up The Feedbag!
Added 2018-12-18 02:34:31 +0000 UTC
We'll soon be recording an XXL Feedbag episode where we'll field your queries. If you have any questions for Mitch, Wiger, Yusong, or Emma post them in the comments below!
Would you consider doing a bracket for McDonald’s items for a Tournament of Chompions? That could scratch the itch for much of the audience that wants a full episode on it!

When you're at line in the grocery store and you see someone with only a few items it's proper etiquette to let them go ahead. Are there any rules of etiquette at fast food establishments that you have strong feelings for?

Have you weighed in on the hot fruit debate? Mike Schur (Parks & Rec and The Good Place creator) is adamantly against any and all hot fruit, including blueberries in pancakes and apples in pies, and seems to have a large amount of followers who ascribe to this belief. Curious to know your takes.

Emma! I went to high school in Exeter, NH and I feel like it has the best food ever - Loaf & Ladle, Green Bean, Romeo’s, Front Row, Szchezuan Taste, etc etc... Is this just me having fond memories of my youth or is it really as good as I remember? (Sorry for the uber specific question —I got excited when you said you were from Exeter on the McDonald’s ep)

I've worked in restaurants for my entire life, and no matter where I've worked, the staff always found itself discussing one important philosophical question. If you were in a standard 30 by 30 room with one doorway and no windows, and there was an infinite stream of 1st graders coming to kill you, how long do you last and what is your strategy? There are no weapons, and they are not trained, all they know is they need to attack and kill you. This is clearly hypothetical, and something we would discuss to pass the time, but seriously how long would you guys last?

You may have discussed this before, but have you ever had a poor (with food or otherwise) experience at a fast food restaurant and did you stop going to that restaurant? Not a restaurant, but personally I love the hot wings at 7/11, but there are homeless people around the shops which makes me feel guilty about stuffing my face while people are starving.

On a recent visit to Chik-fil-a, I ordered a Spicy Deluxe sandwich and asked to hold the tomato (one of your frequent guests, I believe maybe Jon Gabrus, has opined that tomato detracts from most sandwiches, and I agree). Looking at my receipt, I noticed the line noting my request to hold the tomato also indicates they took 15 cents off the price. This blew me away; I'd never seen that done at any restaurant. Are there any little things like that a restaurant does that stand out in your mind as going above and beyond what you expect? (Also, I think it goes without saying, that 15 cent discount makes up for any other concerns one might have about Chik-fil-a and I'm sure you agree, so you don't even need to say.)

Greetings Doughboys, Yusong, and Emma! I recently attended an out of state wedding and due to a lack of car and inclement weather, I ended up eating at the Chili's adjacent to the hotel for lunch, having drinks there between the ceremony and reception, and ending the day with a nightcap and appetizers there. If you had to eat all your meals in one day at the same chain restaurant, what would it be?

My friends, our dads, and brothers started a tradition around 15 years ago where all the men (and boys) go to hooters on Christmas Eve to spend a few hours eating wings and drinking brewdogs before the onslaught of Christmas activities. The tradition peaked with a group of nearly 40 but has petered out as the friend group has gone to college, moved away, and spends time with significant others over the holidays. This year my parents moved, so I’m driving an hour to a hooters that’s about in the middle of the core crew. This is a roundabout way of asking two questions 1) do you have any holiday related chain restaurant traditions? 2) other than for the podcast, what is the furthest you’ve traveled specifically to visit another chain restaurant

Hi guys! In my Massachusetts hometown, we have a nickname for the sub shop chain D'Angelos -- we call it Dangle-O's. Similarly, we call Dunkin Donuts -- Dunkies or sometimes Dunks -- and McDonald's: Mickey D's. Do you know of any similar nicknames for chain restaurants, or did you grow up calling certain restaurants anything other than the name on the building? Thanks for the great podcast, please come to Boston! Maggie

Hey, guys! There are a lot of different shapes of Reese's cups out there, such as pumpkins near Halloween and Trees near Christmas. My wife and I prefer the holiday shapes because the ratio of peanut butter to chocolate is different and, in our opinion, superior. Is there a shape you prefer? Do you think they're all the same? Or do you prefer the classic cup? Thanks!

Hey guys, this is a question for everyone. Do you guys have a food where you get some memory association, either it conjures up memory of home, or if it reminds you of a particular event in your past?
For example, simply having a freshly grilled hot dog and a bottle of cold beer always reminds me of my grad. school years in Australia since they held an Engineering barbecue almost every lunchtime (yes, day drinking can happen...)
Thanks all and keep up the great work!
PS. Green Tea Ice Cream is very subtle and is quite a popular treat in SE Asia... Yusong did nothing wrong!!!

A. Usually when it’s not busy the fry turnover is less frequent thus the fries have been sitting under the lamp for awhile and taste terrible and:

Mitch, I was there at the San Diego show, and I saw what happened. You caved under pressure, yet again. Rubio’s is no four-forker - you know it and I know it. Would you like to take the opportunity now to retract your 4 fork rating for Rubio’s, just like you did with Japadog? P.S. I’m a Vancouver resident. I ate at Rubio’s while I was visiting San Diego, and in my opinion, Japadog is way better than Rubio’s. Japadog: 4 forks. Rubio’s: 3 forks.

You have committed an unspeakable crime and your punishment is to do ten years of solitary confinement in a laboratory ran by food scientists. They are going to study the effects that arise from ingesting one brand and one brand only, in unlimited amounts, for ten years. By brand, I’m not talking Unilever or Yum!; I’m saying Ritz, DiGiorno, etc. Which brand do you choose? You will be provided unlimited water, so you don’t need to choose something that has a beverage.

Often Mitch and Nick have talked about how bad the food is for them. And no doubt it's been detrimental to Mitchs efforts to lose weight to be doing a fast food podcast. That in mind have you guys considered getting the "healthy" options more often when reviewing a place? It's certainly something many chains push as a portion of their menu and seem like something that might be worth including in reviews more and might help reduce the toll doing the show takes on your bodies.

Which one of you is the better cook? Also, who would win in a fight? Mitch has size, but Wiger has the steely-eyed demeanor of a shark. Yusong is the wild card in this scenario.
