My Dinner with Wiger
Added 2018-04-03 07:01:59 +0000 UTC
Post Munch Madness, Mitch and Wiger go guestless to review Taco Bell’s new Nacho Fries, and to have a conversation about a movie about a conversation: My Dinner with Andre, directed by Louis Malle.
Or, I'd like to see a Tournament exclusively with Value Menu items (so, say, nothing over $2.50 or so).

I'd like to see Tournament with classic menu items versus new menu items. So 8 or so classic items (Big Mac, Taco Bell bean burrito or 7 layer burrito, Western Bacon Cheeseburger, Wendy's classic single or double, etc) vs 8 Johnny-come-latelies (whatever fancy burger McD's is pushing at the time, cheesy gordita crunch, Carl's sliders [maybe], whatever version of the Baconator Wendy's is pushing, etc). I would also say that prior winners of the Tournament should be excluded.

The next Tournament of Chompions should be fast food breakfast food items

Also Nick... Of course the low fat sour cream isn't because of the calories. It's Cheaper! The manufacturer uses the milk fat for other products thus reducing the cost of the low fat product:) You'll notice skim milk is also cheaper a lot of times at the grocery store for the same reason. Common man, its taco bell. It's about having the cheapest product possible, not health:P

Neil's idea of the 'Best Item at Each Chain' is great. If you just stick with the College Basketball theme, why not devote January/February Doubles episodes to building the bracket?
Pick a different restaurant each week (limit it to 8 weeks), choose the best item at each one, and slot them into the bracket. Then in March you can finally have that Big Mac vs. Wendy's Spicy Chicken matchup we've all been dreaming about (unless Susser somehow fucks it up).

Ok read the comments... I was also definitely thinking 1. Breakfast 2. Sides 3. Mexican... I also really like the appetizer idea and the value meal sounds good too! It’s waaay too soon to do the signature item of each restaurant.

I would like to see the next Tournament of Chompions to be the best value meal from each fast food place. The $5 fill up vs the 4 for $4 vs the Hot-N-Ready for example

I would actually be interested in hearing - best chain salads. I think it would be challenging in ways outside of previous chompianships, in that I think there could be some really bad salads out there. And although it might be healthy in general, we all know that salads can "be bad for you" if loaded with dressing, but at least it wouldn't come close to killing mitch. I'd also think I'd learn a lot about chain salads as generally this is something I stay away from at chains, but if I knew the top three chain salads, I might grab one the next time I'm at one of those places - think about it won't you?

Munch Madness- Brain Freeze. You'd review the shakes or frozen treats from chains. In n out shake, Wendy's frostee, McFlurry, Carl's Jr shakes, Sonic shakes, Dairy Queen Blizzard...

I will stomp around demanding a Breakfast of Chompions tournament where you review the breakfast menu at fast food joints, but deep down I know this will never happen as it involves Mitch being awake before 11 AM.

Dear Doughboys, the next Tournament of Chompions should focus on one of two options: Either the sides being called off the sidelines in Tournament of Chompions: Feed League or the true deserving premise, that little sweet treat we call dessert. TOURNAMENT OF CHOMPIONS: THE SWEETEST SIXTEEN. The ratings system can and should be 1-5 scoops. Please have me on the show to announce my idea has been chosen. Thanks and love the show.

Agreed with other comments for ToC ideas:
1) Breakfast
2) Mexican food (lots of chains in this category)
3) Sandwiches (e.g. Jersey Mike's, Jimmy John's, Subway)
And would add:
4) Sweet treats (e.g. Dunkin' Donuts, Baskin Robbins, Pinkberry)
5) Best sides (main courses stay on the sidelines)

Breakfast is good. I would also consider sub sandwiches. Lots of options on places and items. You could do a standard turkey/ham/veggie and then a unique sandwich from each. Hurting your body/spirit less is a bonus.

Whatever you do, make sure you plan ahead and space out the meals so you don't end up eating a billion pizza's in a month. I know this means it won't be as fresh in your memory, but you gotta think about your own health and enjoyment.

Breakfast of Chompions or Mexican Standoff. Both could have one side of the bracket that's fast food, and one side that's sit down/fast casual.

It should be “ the fries off” all fries and it would be much easier and might not kill Mitch. You could add the count in as a factor and include sauces as the wild card. If you think you can’t fill an hour and a half with fries talk see past podcasts
