So I just got denied from the UCB advanced sketch program, and I'm pretty bummed. I think that I write funny, concise sketches and follow the UCB plan and structure, but I'm clearly lacking. What do you think is the the best thing for a person to do when they hit a wall they were expecting to clear, and do you have any recommendations as to writing classes or other schools and theaters to check out here in LA? Hey Nick and Mitch! I recently came back from a trip to Japan and the food experience there changed my views on food and ingredients. A bowl of ramen, more specifically tsukemen, and surprisingly a salad from an Italian restaurant are what did it. At what point, or points, in your lives did you experience a shift in mindset of the food you eat? P.S. - I live on the island of Guam! It's similar to Hawaii but more remote and even slower. Hey guys, Huge fan of the show. Having grown up in LA and a big fan of chain restaurants, your podcast is music to my ears. I've noticed on a handful of episodes that you will dine at certain restaurants but not order the signature item of those restaurants. In the Woodranch episode, nobody ordered the tri tip (outside of a sandwich iteration), at BJs, nobody ordered pizza. Nick, at Tony Roma's, you didn't get ribs. I'm sure that your reviews thrive on experiencing the variety of each menu, but they also seem to be crafted from individual perspectives. When you guys eat is there some discussion about who is going to get "the Big Mac" or is it left to chance? To that effect, when you go to a restaurant for the first time (and maybe the last if you're from out of town), do you feel pressure to order the signature dish?
